Create a youtube channel make a video upload it and put it in a showcase on your profile, I guess those videos autoplay when people get on your profile, not perfect but you would get a viewers number to look at.
WHY IS IT NOT WORKING!@
Pageview counters for website went the way of the dodo two decades ago for good reason. The only place where these counters make sense is art or workshop sites where keeping metrics of certain items makes sense.
There's zero sense in knowing how many people went to your profile other than ego boosting.
Thanks but no
- Unique Visitors, make a counter for yourself to see how many unique visitors arrived at your profile every month
- How many people have looked at your steam reviews
I know it's not smart to go in discussion with a moderator like you but:
You are saying that a profile view counter would be ego boosting, but what about the:
- Backgrounds
- Showcases
Some high level profiles got tons of showcases on their profiles but why?
I assume they are not watching their profile as main activity, they wanna show off like Steam clearly susposed this profile customizing for.
That is surely ego-boosting too, and a profile view counter? what does it matter?
I'm sure if people would have asked about: 'Make us choose backgrounds, game statistics, screenshots and videos to add to our steam profiles to show off.' that people would have complained this same way.
The whole gamification on Steam is a huge ego boost, which even i actually adore, it's not a shame to show off.
It's a status where you can state who and what you are on Steam.
As example, you can determine a person's personality a little when you look at their steam profile, an overblown profile means a possible huge steam addiction or a high level profile without any showcase are most of the times the members which are here on Steam for long already.
While writing this reply i understand that you are a moderator and have a good knowledge on some subjects i just wonder how you come to the decision to decline this suggestion and mark it as a ego boost only.
I think this a simple addon which can be realised without any much considering and complaining.
This seems realistic for me at least, i admit this is mostly for the profile owner's joy only but also it's very awesome to keep track of top Steam players and see how many people visited their profiles.
And how about developers? Developers advertise their games on their profiles most of the times, it would be neat to keep track of their activities too. ( I mean developers can check their own stats ).
I'm honestly very interested in your whole opinion about this except declining it and mark it as a ego boost only function.
Kind of like Steam Leveling, no?
