I used to honestly care about Steam review integrity and quality but after Valve made it abundantly clear they view reviews as a score metric they may tweak freely and arbitrarily I have thrown in with the memers lot and moved all my good reviews out of this trash system. There is nothing to be gained caring about a system Valve treats as an obligatory inconvenience at best.
As one of many tools to use, when deciding on a purchase. It shouldn't be the end all, be all for decision making.
Always check multiple sources before making a decision, in order to make the best, informed decision, that you can.
Even if meme reviews vanish you still have to then deal with dozens of amateurs with no discernment or experience to find good reviews. The problem is similar just less funny
How ever, this tool in particular is utterly broken. If it were an actual tool, it would be a pair of hair dresser's scissors that someone used to mark copper pipes and cut wires with. It's so abused it can not fulfil its origina purpose anymore.
I disagree. I don't have an issue with the reviews. I simply filter them and look at the more helpful, less funny reviews.
Valve added "Funny" because people would just up vote funny reviews, leading to meme reviews being at the top. When they added "Funny" as an option, more helpful review surfaced.
If the hair dresser doesn't know how to use the scissors, then it doesn't matter how well they were made. Just as if the hair dresser didn't look at the multiple scissors before grabbing one, then there is no guarantee she will be using the right ones for the job.
Reviews are not going to just hand you an answer, they are just the opinions of other people, even if that opinion is a joke.
however, banning people for what they post in a review is absolutely a bad idea. just because you dont like what they post or say doesnt mean they should be banned.
While I'm not a fan of spam or meme reviews, I'm against banning people for it. And the reviews do get removed after reporting, just takes a long while. Not a high priority, it seems.
