Please no. No AI in Steam for anything.
The term AI is really being overused these days. It is also not the end-all, be-all of a solution.
Steam already uses an algorithm that is based on your purchases, games you stated you liked and other factors, to decide what to show in some areas of Steam to help you find something you may enjoy. In the end, you still need to make your own decision and not let a system dictate for you.
It will certaily not work on "Hey Steam, what was the name of the game I played in 2015. I think it was like 3D graphics, possible first person and in the first mission you to fight through some warehouse". And certainly will not identify Max Payne 3 with that ...
Adding unnecessary bloat to the client/web like Microsoft is doing to Windows is not being "tech-unfriendly."
AUI aint all that.
It's just the newest buzzword in tech.
You know like 'Block-chain'.
No, it won't.
You're just hyped about the next thing that is being sold with all kinds of promises while in reality it's so bad that it will take snapshots of everything you do on your computer and save them in an unencrypted folder for exploitation. The stuff Microsoft is currently doing should be banned, everywhere in the world. And every person who thought it's a good idea to create a system level spyware-like feature should be blacklisted from tech, forever.
Couldn't have said it better myself. What we have, isn't even really AI. It is a step towards AI, but no where close to it. More of an advanced algorithm that uses more processing power.
That isn't AI either, but if you want to be tied to live services and always on-line games to get something like that, then feel free to do so. It won't really help you find a game though.
Sophisticated and smart bots or enemies are already possible. For 20+ years already.
The problem is that it's not particularly fun to play against them. Turns out if you pitch a lone hero against a squad of enemies that communicates which each other, uses real tactics and doesn't announce when they are reloading, throwing a grenade or are about to leave cover (or peek above it every five seconds) the hero soon bears more resemblance to a piece of Suisse cheese than Rambo.
And if they are on your team, you are the weakest link. Noticable so.
Complex voice interaction?
Yeah sure. But until that can run on your machine and doesn't need a serverfarm that you can spot from space with an infrared camera, there will still flow a lot of coolants down the river next to it.
And with the current state you won't be able to finish a quest in an RPG.
-> Player gives 5 bear arses
"Thank you, but you do not have the required eight."
"You sure, you said five."
"Sorry, you are right, but you still missing one."
"Please count again"
"You are right, my mistake. These are five bear arses. But I am still waiting for my five pig bellies."
"You wanted five bear arses!!!"
"There are several kind of bears, do you want me list which one have arses?"
