All your “problems” go away. Also stop characterizing your behavior as “light hearted” when it’s obviously not that, at all
Person who hasn't read the ban says "Obviously" lol
Honestly preferred the days of the volunteer mods who were both actually generally active users and did more than just work off a glorified Checklist but this is where we are now. It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s what we’ve got until Valve decides to change their moderation structure.
Most likely you ran into a shill steam account that has moderation privilege. They will lie to your face and tell you moderators and steam support don't use the forum, but they aren't very convincing considering how inappropriate the ban offensive often is when dealing with some of the trollish posters that frequent these forums.
Solution is to just identify the person you got banned for disrespecting and make a mental note that they are a steam shill, in the future to out of your way to identify all of them, they roam in packs, often 3 or 4 steam employees are hovering around the forum at a time, it's how they mob rule over people and attack topics.

I can choose to not be offended... but that doesnt change whether a post is offensive or not. We can science these things.
thank you
no... this is not a place, a call to arms, for such radical speech. please do not mouth froth like this in my threads.
I sometimes make call to arm posts about certain things... feel free to join those and mouth froth then. Just not this time.
not a bad suggestion, but it remains that, as said above, some things are indeed offensive. I would rather people be respectful inherently but there are just some people who arent (and some people who cant, lack of impulse control is a real disability... I wouldnt want them to be permenantly silenced but I also dont want to see every loli murder torture gif (I knew a guy once, somehow EVERYONE ELSE was ok with them, not even higurashi style either... i mean blood c demon rabbits scene brutal stuff... to lolis) or yiffer freak *orn they feel like posting either.
some people really do need help filtering (sometimes I probably do too).
but I dont like arbitrary rules either... i want a clear outline and threshold... and I want it to be reasonable and organic.
this seems kind of unhinged and rude/disrespectful to me... perhaps I could report it but then its so.... irrelevant... to me that I dont see a point. great, they are spazzing about an option that I just said was a UI feature games control.
maybe they thought it was funny to say it that way... maybe they have a lot of bad history with it some how... who knows.
where as this id be more inclined to get upset about.
like, why the ♥♥♥♥ would you attack my IQ.... I'm CLINICALLY proven to be intelligent and yet something so many people try to attack is my IQ and it really ticks me off. nevermind its just such an unneccessary, AND OFF TOPIC, comment to make. my IQ has nothing to do with the discussion... has nothing to do with the suggestion... and you could have not attacked my iq and nothing would change with the discussion en large.
maybe if they explained how steam could implement such a feature... (I think itd make memory ♥♥♥♥ even worse if steam tried to super impose its overlay permentantly as oppose to just when we shift tab, so theyd have to explain how to handle this of course) but they didnt even do that.
The thing is, there are 2 types of IQ. Street smarts or book smarts. While you may be the latter, most of us are street smarts and can see through the bs.
In other words when one says about "intelligent IQ" usually associated of being a troll and laughed at.
If something is meant to get an emotional response, replying with that also doesn't help such an assertion. Regardless, thats not really relevant to the subject.
Speaking of the subject;
I can agree that the moderators decision could easily be applied to specific posts and be accurate, since past historical context often "play the man and not the ball" in a manner that certainly fits their decision.
Do note that bear poking or trying to jab at people personally for merely disagreeing tends to go very poorly. Thus, civil replies are better, trying to "get back at" with jabs can easily get people correctly hit by moderators.
So in cases like this, even without seeing the moderators message, being aware of applicable context it comes down to "play the ball not the man" and being civil, not personal, to not get continually correctly moderated.
It isn't really useful outside of school. There also isn't one type of IQ.
