Achievements increasing your Profile Level
Okay, before I get started I KNOW that things like Steam Achievement Manager exist, and that they could be used to boost profile levels, not that I think that matters very much as all you will get out of it is a few showcases. But if it is something people are REALLY against, then perhaps it could be a separate passive increase in level that doesn't affect progression to the next unlocked showcase.

First of all, the idea is pretty simple. Each achievement based on rarity will have a value in profile XP (nothing too major, but something that will increase someones profile by one or two levels for completing all the achievements in a game - but this would be relative to exactly how many achievements are in a game, and how difficult they may be to obtain.

I think stuff like what im suggesting has been talked about ever since profiles first got badges and levels, but it would be nice for achievements to mean something on this platform for once.

1 achievement is already 1 point, just not for xp but for the overall achievement counter. sufficient for me.

with your level you should know yourself that the higher the level, also the higher the xp requirement for the next level.
so ... would be kinda imba if i would get 2.1k xp for a "completed" game, you would just get 1.1k and poor level 5 xXsniper420Xx gets 100xp.

so this does already not work. i do not wanna dissect every single aspect of your post so i stop there.

anyway, i would suggest, we, the dumb users aka sheeps, let the achievement system be alone with unrequested feedback and let Valve decide what is best for it. may it take 2 years, or 10. one day a change will certainly come .. and we probably wont like, at least that is what the 10k comments thread will imply but a few years after that, nobody will care about it again.

Yeah, I think Valve probably would have something in mind, and definitely would be better thought out than whatever some random guy posts on the suggestions forums.

Will never be done. They wont tie achievements to XP because they don't control the achievements and anyone can use SAM to instantly unlock them

Yes valve has something in mind, they are actually doing what they have in mind right now because they don't care about achievements and know that they can't actually stop programs like SAM from doing its thing.

And yes all this has been talked about before which you could have easily read and comment in one of those threads if you actually had anything new to offer if you had bothered to use the search feature first. One of the latest ones is just from a few weeks back if I remember right. They were another person who didn't bother using the search feature.

Creating new pressure for achievement-heavy, content-light products strikes me as a non-starter. :KentSleep:

Given there's 99 cent games with like 10,000 achievements that take maybe 10 mins total to unlock? Nah, just nah.

Wait! This can't be right! I was told several times with absolute certainty that people using SAM doesn't affect other people who don't use SAM in any way.

And now you are telling me that a basic achievement related feature that even exists on consoles could never happen on PC because people use SAM, and as a result legitimate achievement hunters and regular folk can't enjoy a basic feature because of them?!

How can this be?

 Fully agree because current profile leveling is pay-to-win ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ where you just pay for cards to increase your level.

Plus any other service levels profiles by gameplay, not by paying to be higher level. Completely absurd elitist system as it stands.

As much as you like it, without Valve deleting every achievement and starting over from scratch it won't work. You can d/l a $.99 game that gives you 10,000 achievements so ask yourself why there is no xp for achievements.....

I don't think this is a good idea for the reasons that everyone else has given.
It will be easy to game.
