We also already see lots of people begging for people to give them free games.
If we had stuff like this we'd see people spamming "Donate money to my steam account so that I can buy games" "I'm poor, donate me some money to buy games" "Donate money to me so that I can buy games for other people"
I don't want to see more spam.
It's a good idea tho, shame scammers would take advantage of it to scam.
If you want to buy someone a game, find out what game they want or decide what game you want to buy for them, and then buy it for them.
If you want to give an item to someone, trade for or buy the item using your own funds, then wait a trade timeout of 7 days (if you bought the item), and then send them a trade offer where you gift it to them for nothing in return.
If you really want to give money to someone close to you -- for example, if you're giving money to your daughter or son to spend on Steam -- you can just enter your credit card info once and then tell Steam to not save it. Or you can buy them a Steam Wallet card.
What other purposes would donating Steam Wallet credit serve? I can't think of any.
there you go.
It even autoconverts to their currency.
Origin doesn't have 125 to 300 million accounts. It doesn't have 8 to 9 million active accounts at any one point in the day. It doesn't have 10,000 to 20,000 games made by thousands of different companies, I believe EA owns all the games On Origin. From what I can find, Origin has less then 50 games. They also pretty much shut down games after 2 or 3 years when they turn off servers for the game even if people are still playing it.
At one point, if you got banned in the Origin/EA forums, for what ever reason, you lost access to all your games. I hear thats changed now, you only lose access to playing in multiplayer on the games, which if true is still too harsh.
And Origin is also for kids too.
So trying to say Origin didn't have any issues with a donate button on peoples accounts, which from what I can tell, Origin doesn't have, is trying to compare Apples to Oranges
WHY would you want to donate money to another steam account?
I understand why some people would donate, they would donate to real friends and family. In fact I would donate to real life friends and family. But the problem with a donate button is that scammers would take full advantage of this and scam less informed people out of they items.
