There is a reason why such features died over a decade on all social media platforms.
If that's what you're aiming for, its a good idea. But its not that difficult for people to just mute music from a website. It won't annoy them permanently.
we see instagram doing it, not on auto play. I mean it's posible, the licenses are definitely the problem.
The money that steam can make adding another way to custom your profile could make up the throble of setting it up
blasting those on your profile for someone else is not included in "personal use".
if not from the soundtrack we own, could be from the points shop
If Valve were ever dumb enough to do this, it MUST have an on/of switch and it MUST be off by default. Not just on our end but on the persons profile end too.
Also if you turn it off so you don't hear other peoples profiles it should also mean it doesn't play on your profile either. If you can't take being annoyed by it, then you shouldn't be able to annoy others with it.
Also there should be a lag time when turning it on and of. Turn it on so that you can listen to other peoples profiles, happens instantly, but the music on your profile won't start playing for a month. Don't want to hear peoples profile music, well the music on your profile goes off right away, but you hearing music from others profiles continues for a month.
The reason for this lag time is to stop people just turning stuff on and off to annoy people.
Music to put in the points shop would cost Valve money, they don't get money from anything in the points shop so no reason to put it in the points shop.
Also do you know what it costs to legally broadcast music? Hundreds if not thousands of dollars per month, per song via licensing agreements between companies.
Do you think Valve is going to pay that? No. Are you going to pay that? Somehow I doubt it.
