Back in 2012:
Of course now there are a lot more than 2,500 games on Steam. It's a big undertaking, but they're getting there. Some people tend to focus on a few popular multiplayer titles with anti-cheat that just refuse to play on Linux. (For now.) Those aside, I would say that about 80% of all Steam games run fine on Linux. The goal of course is 100%. Valve and Codeweavers are working tireless to try and make that happen.
Well, it's not like it was very active before proton existed, but I agree.
i can see why it would seem daunting to a dev
there are so many variations
that use so many different ways to do the same thing
it would be hard to run games on every distro
i like mint a lot
i still use it for my daily
but i have manjaro for steam
