and can you stop your nonsense OS hate? your flak against windows is completely dumb and unprofounded, you use ubuntu .... which has more call home mechanics then every television broadcast of E.T.
Ubuntu has one semi spyware option that can be turned off through a graphical user interface, with one simple flick of a switch. Namely to suply all your dash search queueries to Amazon, so Amazon can show you products to buy. As said this can easily be turned off.
This is completely different from Microsoft, forcing people to upgrade to Win X without consent.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/steve-peterson/warning-your-computer-may_b_10099208.html
You also might want to look at what all the updates in Win 7 & 8 are doing if you do not have Win X yet. As halve of them are telemetry updates, to phone home every keystroke you do to MS.
And Win X is one big sucking spyware platform, where the spying can not be simply turned off without going through many webpages of how to switch all stuff off as far as is possible, and good luck with the forced updates, as all Win X home users are beta testers for the enterprice editions. Have fun with the forced updates that kill your drivers and stuff.
And I can OS hate all I want, when my Linux PC gets commurcials for Windows only junk, that I didn't ask for, that are waisting my time.
inb4 Valve is pro-Windows
Also Ubuntu ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Why not Arch or Gentoo or any other distro?
If people then bite and go to attack me for the fact I'm using Linux, then ofcause I'm going to react to that.
You are completely free to use any OS you like, if you want to use a spyware platform like Win X, go ahead I don't care.
And Valve is not pro Windows, biggest mistake of all, Valve/Steam is spearheading the attack on Windows.
Valve did see with the introduction of Win X, That Microsoft was integrating it's own Game sales platform in to the Windows desktop, trying to exclude competitors, this is a direct attack on Valve.
Valve has responded by enouncing that Linux will be the defacto future premium gaming platform, with stuff like gaming from your smart TV (that runs on Linux) gaming on your mobile (that runs on Linux), using SteamOS that is Linux, or building your own Steam console that is based on Linux.
At the same time Valve is utilizing the allready existing Linux user base to get things going, I have decided to free my self from the shackles of Windows, by refusing to buy new games that do not have Linux support.
Virtual all computers on the planet use Linux, all the websites you are visiting are using Linux, all the super computers virtualy exclusively use Linux, basicly all computer hardware like your router ,phone or PS4 or other consoles all use Linux, the only systems that do not use Linux yet is the Desktop/Laptop enviroment.
It is sadly very hard though to get away from Windows, as hardware sellers all have contracts to sell a copy of Windows on every single PC, because MS gives them steep discounts to do so.
Also most people do not give a crap about what OS their PC runs, as long as they can play the games they like, which will make sure that a large part of people will be stuck with Windows.
As an example the .gif image format is proprietery, and people have been encourage for more then 20 years to use the 100% roayalty free .png format. But nobody cares and most websites/people still use propriatairy formats like .gif & .jpg, this just shows how difficult it is to get away from propriatairy systems/formats once they are massively used.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) To get to your last question, I have used Red Hat and Open Suse before I used Ubuntu, it took me 4 months to get a 3D game running in Red Hat, in Ubntu it costed me 30 seconds.
Ubuntu is the most supported Linux version on Steam, some games will not officialy support you if you do not use Ubuntu, all though most if not all of the game devs are willing to listen to any problems even if you are not on Ubuntu.
So to make life simple and to get support out of the box, using Ubuntu is a must.
Linux Gaming Desktop, Ohhh noes, itzz full of games.

Instead of bragging about how Linux is superior to Windows (or Winblows/Wincrap or my personal favourite NSA/Windows) and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the latter because of that fact, you could write your initial post like this:
"I am a dedicated Linux user and I can't stand that almost every game in my discovery queue is Windows-only. Given that Valve themselves support Linux platform, I'm surprised they don't offer a feature to filter out the games that don't support my operating system. Could it be possible to implement such feature? I'm pretty sure that not only Linux users, but also the ones using Macs will be way more than grateful for this.
Thanks in advance."
Both clever, nice and showing your passion for UNIX-like systems.
Maybe u didn't notice, but ur the only person talking about a linux master race or stereotypical neckbeards, attempting to attack me personaly.
Your just trying to flame for the sake of flaming, if you feel offended by calling windows wincrap, that's ur own personal problem.
Rather then bragging about any supposed superiority of Linux, I have come up with examples why I use Linux and attempted to awnser genuin questions.
Linux is in no way superior to Windows, other then to be less attacked by virusses, and having less spyware preinstalled in to the OS, making Linux a faster OS, as it doesn't need to run a virus scanner while playing a game.
Windows both looks better, and has more available programs then Linux, which is not too surprising, once you know that a multi billion $ corperation, who forces the OS on to every new PC is suplying it.
Valve normaly attempts to show only Native Linux games in the discovery queue, but lately some games that are win only slipped through, this topic was a protest against that.
This topic was not about Windows users, who feel offended that their OS was mistreated in a Linux topic, was mentioned.
The topic was not intended to get Windows users to start using Linux, it's about a Linux user who dislikes getting commurcials for Win games.
My experience as a gamer is that most developers design a game for windows (because, reguardless of how some people feel, the majority of users use windows) and then port them to other OSs as an afterthought. Even this is starting to change now days as developers are programing for consoles and porting to computers.
Valve may support the linux platform, but until developers and publishers do, linux users are going to have to accept what they are given.
I'm not complaining about publishers not releasing their game for Linux.
I will vote with my feet, and you will simply not get my cash, if you don't support Linux.
All game types are available on Linux, it is no longer that you don't have a choice what OS you want to game on.
Eurotruck Sim 2(trucks), Kerbal SP(space), GRID autosport(racing),Civilization 5(turnbased), Allien isolation(SciFi), Cities:skylines(citysim), Parkitect(coastersim), WarThunder(fighting), TombRaider(adventure) etc etc.
Valve knows I'm on Linux and normaly attempts not to show Win only games, they are able to filter them out, but their algoritm seems to be breaking now and then, and I was complaining about that.
I'm sure Steam's aware of WinE, and that some of us on linux will suffer playing on it.
However, there are a number of persisting bugs around the lists and queue so if I had to guess it's just that someone broke it and they haven't got around to fixing it yet.
My main issue isn't that I can't restrict promotion to my OS, it's that Steam doesn't treat all OSes equally. Primarily, they default to showing Windows / Mac games on the list filter (when you browse new releases, specials, etc) regardless of what OS you're browsing from. The only effect this has is to hide linux-only games (if they exist on Steam) by default - something that I doubt is intentional.
If Valve wants to break OS market dominance, IMHO the best way would be for them to offer an incentive to fully cross-platform games (say a 29% take for games that work on all Steam's OSes, and 31% for those that don't - or perhaps instead of 29% they could offer some other advantage - either features or increased promotion).
Look who's talking, friend. Also I may be misinformed, but I'm reasonably certain that releasing a game for multiple OSs is a little more complicated than, say, checking a box for each OS. Each one has fundamental differences in structure and how it handles programs, which is why you see Kickstarters and such with stretch goals of releasing a game on more than just Windows.
Additionally, and not to bash Linux because I don't know much about it except that it's pretty damn stable and a little more intuitive to use than Windows, but you've sort of shot yourself in the foot by trying to be a Linux-only gamer. The percentage of personal-use computers running Linux has never been over 10%; the highest it's been is 6.3% in August of this year. See for yourself if you don't believe me.[www.w3schools.com] For a game developer, there's more potential profit, exposure, and resources available for a Windows-capable game, period. If they put in the extra hours to make it available for Mac and Linux, good on them, if they didn't, oh well. If you feel like your game options are limited, it's because they ARE; rather than complaining about it and making yourself look like a paranoid conspiracy theorist, you should just install the least offensive version of Windows on another hard drive and boot to it when there's a game you really want to play.

Now at least in the discovery queue the Windows games are gone, Valve is still showing Win only games how ever in other queues, like new releases, but I simply ignore those queues
When a game uses the Unity3D engine, it is actualy as easy, as flicking a switch and tell Unity3D to produce a Linux, Mac, iOS, Android or Win version of your game.

There's a little more to it - albeit nowhere near as much as, say, actually changing the graphics API. Lots of minor things, such as different default paths and path delimiters - or window manager inconsistencies. You also have bugs that for some reason only crop up in one OS, and you need to have the resources to test and debug the OSes you support. However, those things are much easier than they sound.
When a Windows user complains about something in Windows, I never see people go tell them to install Linux, when you talk about Linux how ever, there is always somebody who comes to tell, why Linux is bad and that you should not use it etc etc.
