Stop it with the trashy profile rewards
it keeps unhiding itself,
some idiot somewhere paid like 50 cents for a sticker and plastered it on my profile, and every time i go to check, my profile SOMEHOWWWW went from "hide all community awards" to allowing them to be shown

sick of this garbage reddit crap, nah, dont want that trash on my profile. been with steam longer than any of your employees have been. This is trash, remove it.

Are you using steam on more than one device? It is possible that the settings from one are overriding the other. I had this problem with other features a few years back, as one of my devices was always online, and while I had changed the settings on the other device it would always revert to the settings of the always online device whenever I started steam on the other one. Might be worth exploring.
There oughta be some way to just report the award and get it removed.

Well, ideally there'd be some way to report those people who harass others with awards.

Report someone who is not breaking the rules? Sounds legit.

Harassment is against the rules. If you're going to argue that awards cannot constitute harassment, note that a way to report stuff is not the same as a punishment applied to those who did the stuff, but is simply alerting Steam staff to the possibility of a problem, which they can subsequently rule on.

Giving awards is not against the rules.

Secondly "the" intent of the giver of the award has to be proven and it cannot be.

Deeming it harassment does not make it harassment.

Nor is posting in a forum.

A similar counterargument can be applied to any other communication alleged to be harassment. This issue is not unique to awards.

I don't think they are trash, they look cool.

The intent is often very clear: to call people stupid.

It's rare to see a post that is really fun getting a jester, you know.

Maybe I'm getting one now, so I'll leave my thanks in advance.

There's a fun point.
The "awards" are a bit like reddit... although reddit don't have any like 🤡
And we get plenty of suggestions to have other quality of life improvements which are so often shot down with "this place isn't reddit" due to the similarities.
and yet those same people are forever defending the steam "awards", especially when yet another valid complaint about the jester "award" comes up.
my bet is they love the ability to anonymously harass others, hence all the nonsense retort and gas lighting to defend the blatant misuse/abuse.

Especially obvious that people are just calling others a clown 🤡 when there's always the hilarious 😂 "award", which is also cheaper.

we all know the intent is to imply the awardee is the guy from this meme

This over here may be the culprit. Steam makes a mess if you happen to use it on two devices and made some privacy changes in one.

Not long ago Steam insisted in changing my profile name whenever I logged into my laptop.

Oh yeah, I remember when I once regularly used Steam on two different computers and then found that changing my display name on one computer would result in my display name reverting back to my old one when I logged in on my other computer.
