Remote Play Together on any Non-Steam games
Since it is possible to add Non-Steam games to the library (linking them), I would love a checkbox in the settings of any linked game to start it with Remote Play Together.

I don't request to support any game, but just to give the option to start it anyway, even if it doesn't work, because it very often does actually work with a workaround.

The workaround:
Take a game which supports Remote Play Together, like Expendabros. Go to the file location of the EXE and simply replace the enite Expandabros folder with whatever you want to start instead! The only thing you have to take into account is that the name of the game-folder and the name of the EXE have to match the one of the replaced Expendabros game.

Since anything can be started with Remote Play Together this way, even if it's nonsensical like notepad, why not just make it an option of any linked game in my library?

Hint:
There is also a GitHub project "Remote Play Whatever" which also works as a workaround.

Kind Regards

It would be nice actually, but I have feeling people will complain demanding fixes for non-steam games, and such, that just my hunch on this to why they're not doing it for non-steam games.

Thank you for your suggestions Eiswolfin. That will likely help someone finding this Thread, but I still think my suggestion is an improvement to Steam.

Why should Valve invest money into supporting third party games outside of Steam?
There is no money in that. It would be a net loss in any way.

Make it profitable and Valve may think about it.

Have to say there is not much reason not to really, only down side I can see is someone using it for some scam, even that honestly will be a really long way to get something they likely can do easier then that
I don't think there should be much of an issue really adding it to any game as much, I assume that after first contact its a port to port so Valve servers will not need to suffer from the remote play or the like
Its not really adding much, and if you looking for profit, its one more reason for someone to use Steam over outher services
Only case is maybe someone starting to use it as a remote control app, but honestly again, there is easier stuff and ways to do it then that

I want to bump this discussion, since it's still relevant.
To Update:
1. It's more common to use the game "Pummel Paladins" instead of my first mentioned Expandabros for the workaround.
2. To erase the need to copy the game folder you can compile an EXE which starts the game you actually want to start. There are some "bat to exe converter" out there (might not be safe). The command would be
start "path/to/my/game.exe"

However, this shows that Steam is generally able to run Non-Steam Games with Remote Play Together and I would love to have this functionality.

For Context: I own "Travellers Rest" on GOG. While on Steam RPT is enabled, since I bought the game where I wanted to buy it, I can't use this function.
Alternatively just use Parsec, works with any game from any store.
