is there any way steam can have a streamer mode?
like it would be cool to hide your name and info from your self in game, I guess they could do it for their own games but ima take a wild guess for most other games valve hasnt made they really couldnt

and like I said to hide it from your self i guess players can see you fine

This is why actual streamers have a personal (private) account and a public business account.

And no you should not be able to hide your info because scammers and spammers would use to that try to avoid being reported.

I just said it only hides it from you and not other people to avoid that

Not really clear, why do you need to hide your info from yourself?

I guess I'm not familiar enough with the subject then, because that doesn't really clarify things for me.

because you wouldnt want random people spaming your steam account and would want trolls to be less likely to know what your steam account is

some people are cool with every one being able to find their steam others are not, games them selfs have started making a streaming mode but thats mostly for stream snipping but it would be usefull for what im saying

what happens in a game and how they handle your player name is courtesy of the game developer, that is not the task of Steam.

mean it would encourage content creators to play more games that didnt used to have a streamer mode, and they could at least make something that works on all their games

Games can do this already, if they choose to add one.

For the client itself when you are out of a game, put up some kind of image over the client window using your capture software.

I guess that gets into a question of how important are streamers are to a game really. They seem to think of themselves as being very important. Gaming survived a lot of years without them. But maybe I just don't appreciate the reality since it hasn't been my world.

I get that, but id imagine in the grand scheme of things they do make games more active keeping p[eople invested and interested in games, idk if dota lol and counter strike would be as popular with out them

Some games like RUST have a Streaming Mode, which even changes the names of the people using chat, and their display names only to your client, they remain normal to everyone not using that mode. There's also a way to hide the map from viewers with a chosen graphic.

Spiffing Brit did a stream, he just let people add him; apparently, at/after 200 friend add attempts, no one else can attempt to add you.

Besides, a lot of streamers use alternate accounts just for Streaming or streaming certain games, you can disable the overlay as well if using display capture; game capture doesnt appear to show the steam overlay.

This is not something Steam can really do, as it would affect games themselves and I doubt developers would want Steam to get that involved in their game. RUST however, is a great example of a Dev choosing to have such a mode. Other games are also tailored to having viewers influence the game, I forget one of them but an upcoming title is "The Riftbreaker" where they can influence you positively or negatively if you link your account. I think the other is "MarZ tactical base defense"

Not something Steam itself would do, you can go to a Developers page and ask for it/suggest it, if they have the time they'd likely consider it, if the game is popular enough on streaming platforms.

I guarantee they would, CS is a long standing popular series and DOTA is still DOTA.

Maybe. But I'd also say Counter-Strike was over a decade into being insanely popular before streaming. At that point, especially in gaming, we're kinda paste the point of it being a fad. I'm not sure I'd agree with giving streaming credit for maintaining that success. Not when plenty of games get streamed, and most of them come and go regardless.

Back in the day when I played World of Warcraft I listened to a couple of WoW podcasts. And there were lots of game podcasts around. Did pod casters attract more players to games? Or did players consume podcasts that were relevant to their interests?

I think Streaming is just an evolution of previous forms of interaction. It adds entertainment and value to players I get that. Good games will still be good, and games that stand the test of time still will. Streamers will flock to those games because that's where the action is. I'm not sure it's quite the other way around like they might imagine.

But again, could just be my biases talking.
