We really need an option to delete inventory items
I'm not just talking about the sales stickers, but sometimes I receive unsollicited 'gifts' from games I'll never play and they are impossible to sell.
For the last 3 years I've been trying to sell two swords that I got from the game 'trove' even though I have this game hidden in my preferences.
This is really really really REALLY annoying

And I was always asking for a "hide" feature as we have for games but never a delete feature since people lose their account far too often and it would be a nightmare for support and the fact that people simply change their minds and want items back eventually (not all people tho)

Why should millions of users put up with the inability to remove trash from their inventory due to a small group of people who don't care about their account security or are very inattentive?
Brooks eredeti hozzászólása:
I assume that the scam topics that appear on the forum are largely fictional.

Another part of such topics appears because users decided to cheat the system and get some benefit by violating the terms of the license agreement. They themselves are to blame for being deceived.

The remaining cases of fraud really fall on relatively small group of all users.

Read the entire topic. Users have already written several times that it is possible to come up with such a scheme (for example, timeout or the use of authenticator), which would allow in most cases to avoid "accidental" deletion of non-exchangeable and non-tradable items (remember that this topic is only about them).

Valve needs to fight scam issues in a way that doesn't restrict "normal" users from managing account.

If you have any items you dont need, feel free to give them to me :)
This has been bothering me for a long time. All those untradeable items of whatever sorts I got from Steam events to use in chat or whatever: I have no use for them. I don't want them. Some of them are very ugly to look at.

I don't understand why I am forced to keep them in my inventory.

As others have done, I contacted support about it and got the same copy/paste reply. At least they have one reply ready which means they know it's an issue that comes up regularly.

I answered them that as it is now, I will not participate in Steam events anymore, as I feel more punished than rewarded. Those events are marketing events meant to make people spend more money. When I don't participate in those events, I will not spend money during those events. So Steam loses revenue from me. And why? Because of unneeded, unwanted, ugly items which are forced upon me? What a weird reason from a business perspective. At the very least: Give me the option to REJECT a reward before force-putting it into my inventory.

On a related note: On the first page of this thread, someone wrote that the inventory space is unlimited. Is this true? I always was under the impression that it is limited, because when I level up my steam level, I sometimes get +5 slots. What are those extra slots good for, if it's unlimited anyway? Have I understood the inventory system wrong all those years?

TL;DR: I want to get rid of untradeable items in my inventory. Those event items have been cluttering my inventory for years, and it's now a too annoying situation to ignore. This evil witch from one of those stickers (?) is freaking me out. Not to mention the dead seagull.

Steam inventory space is indeed unlimited (Steam inventories for other games may be not. IE: TF2 Inventory is limited)
Those 'slots' you get when levelling up are friend slots (You can friend a limited number of people)
I would echo one thing though.

While those inventory slots are infinte so it's not actually taking up anything, it is a bit of a pain in the arse having to scroll through pages to get where you want.

Granted the search function is a massive help, but I feel it could be better if it were not a PAGED list, but rather a continuous scrolling list, much like your game library.

For me, it becomes a bit of a apin when I sit down and wish to see what cards I've earned and what badges I can make and so on. I don't want to go through pages just to see how far I am from a game that begins with a end letter of the alphabet.

Steam already cant handle Gamelists that exceed around 1k games, how tf are they gonna handle thousands of Steam items that way?

I've heard this but can I ask in what way?

As I've not seen my lists play up at all, but then I could be looking in the wrong place.

Go on my Profile, or on your own, click on "Games" on the right Side, the Client will take Ages to load the List, and most likely crash.

Nope, works fine for me, not even slow.

I'll keep an eye on it though as I'm curious :)
THanks for the heads up.
I tried it as well and mine loaded in about 4 seconds and crunchyfrog's in about 7 which I think is perfectly reasonable. koRRUpt[ed's however did indeed crash my client.
1,000 games does not stall out the all games list, it happens when you try to load thousands like 10k+. It's been that way for many years.

Fair point. Didn't try Korrupted Mind's games until now and sure enough crashes for me too.

I guess their account is living up to their name :)

Thank you for your reply. This is at least good news to me. For some reason, I completely misunderstood those "slots" all those years. Glad that this is cleared up.

Nonetheless, the suggestion to add a delete (or something similar) option to those items in question remains.

Edit: When I asked Steam Support what those slots are, they closed the ticket with the reply that they don't have an answer to that topic. Oh well.

Maybe they just didn't understand how you phrased the question.

The best thing to remember is this - if you have a particular singular issue about personal data or payment stuff, use support. For everything else, ask here.
