"Your language is not supported..."
I have my Discovery Queue customized.
I have my language preferences chosen in my account settings.

Why does my Discovery Queue keep feeding me games that are not in my language?

Example- just now, I ran through my Discovery Queue.
I am a native English speaker.
My language choice is English.
2 out of 10 games I was shown were in Chinese only.
Only Chinese (Simplified), no other languages supported.

I do not speak or read Chinese, in any form.

Why am I being shown games that are in a language I don't speak or read, that have no other languages supported, only one that I do not speak or read, and that does not match my marked language preferences in my account settings?

I am sure this is an issue for people all over the world, who use Steam Client. Being shown games that do not support the language they speak or can read, and have chosen in their language localization preferences.

Please... have Discovery Queue and Search results respect my language preferences, so I am not being shown games I cannot understand, store text I cannot read or understand. Our language preference settings should be included in what criteria Steam Client uses when showing us games we *might* be interested in.

Steam tells you why it's showing you these games.

"This game does not look like anything else you have played before."
"Is this game relevant to you".

Here, have a game in a language you don't have selected, that does not resemble anything else you have ever played, and that may or may not appeal to you, based on the other games you own and have played.

Try again.

Don't have to, I didn't design the algorithms nor do I use them.

But Steam does say why a game is shown to you. Sure, it may, be a bad reason, but it is disclosed to you.

If a game does not support my chosen language, and I can't read it or play it, because I can't understand that language... why show it to me? I am not going to spend years learning how to muddle through barely reading or hearing a new language just for a $10 game.

Why do you have an issue with additional filtering criteria being added? I speak and read "this" language. Show me games that support "this" language. Seems rather simple, and helpful to everyone, so they are shown games they are more likely to buy and enjoy, because it supports the language(s) they can speak and read.

If you have nothing constructive to add to a thread, please go find one that you can add something constructive to.

Question, have you ever wishlisted a game that didn't originally have English but later got translated? I know my queue recommends non English games due to me wishlisting it to check if it gets translated.

Though I do believe there should be an option to say either: Absolutely don't show me games that aren't in my preferred language, or inform me when it is in my language if the game catches my eye.

Not that I am aware of. I know for sure I have never wishlisted a game that was available only in a language I do not speak or read, hoping it would later be translated. But I can't say I have never wishlisted a game that was originally released with only a single localization, that had English added during an update to the game sometime after release. I only notice a game in my Discovery Queue, or on a Store page if it specifically lists English as a supported language.

We can set language preferences for reviews, we can set language preferences for the website. We can set language preferences for the Client. I really do feel this would be useful for everyone if we could customize our Queue the same way.

the language preferences don't count for anything on the store other then reviews.

No kidding? Really? Please read my posts. I am asking for them to ADD language preference filters to Discovery Queue. I KNOW that it does it does not apply to anything in the Store except reviews. Which is why I am making a suggestion for Valve to change that, and add it to the filters for Discovery Queues. Read the last part of my post directly above yours. And try to add something actually constructive to the discussion.

Until something happens, use the ignore button.

I did search before posting. And with 1605 pages of results, I did not find those particular threads.
Thanks for taking the time to specifically find the ones that must have been back after the first 100 or so pages I looked at.

And yes, I do use the "Ignore" button.

And yes, I do still think this is a filter that needs to be added.

I only posted the ones from this forum. There were dozens more from Help & Tips. All of which going back about late 2017. Something happened and all of a sudden, Chinese only spam in the queue.

I use the Steam Labs recommender now.

Been using that too, in Steam Labs Experiments. But I like to check my Queue also. And neither of them includes a language localization filter.

I have yet to see an unsupported language in the recommender.

Ah, so because you never have, yet, it means it can never happen, or has not happened to anyone else. Gotcha.

And, nevertheless, that still does not address my suggestion to add the filter to the Discovery Queue. Which some of us still like to use, and will use, until or unless it is removed, and replaced by something else.

Never said it won't but it does look that way as of now, yes.
