Artifact [Valve's card game] <---U---> Steam Trading Cards
just a glimpse of an idea that i want to throw out and maybe picked up by somebody else.

the whole trading card system/game's badge/steam level now is very boring and meaningless at this point in my view. you get trading cards only to craft badge, to get XP for useless steam level and some useless badge not earned but bought, and these are only visual feature to "decorate" the steam profile nothing more.

why not revamp the whole trading card system to give out Artifact's playable cards?
for example: i play "the witcher 3" --- i earn some trading cards related to the witcher 3 game, but this card can be used to play on Artifact. these cards are still marketable, used to craft some useless badge if you want, and now it has more sense to collect them.

just an idea that requires an abnormous amount of work but it would be some added value to steam.

as it is now, i have some trading cards in my inventory, but i don't care nor about crafting badge, nor collecting them, nor about raising my steam level. they are cards only by name.
but if maybe they were related to some cards game who knows...

Steam trading cards are courtesy of each product they came from and their respective owners. they can not be simply used in a game owned by Valve.

there are 64000+ Steam trading cards + their foils, not even mtg, which has been out for 25 years, has a third of that.

you can sell or trade your cards for other stuff that you want.

also "Artifact - The Dota Card Game"

Yeah but steam would need recreate all terms of partnership between game makers and steam. They would need approves of the owner's rights etc. And not all would agree with that... Idea is good, but nobody would do that work.... If you want to play a card game buy a MTG deck...
And just sell those collectible cards to buy some skins, boosters in mtg arena or whatever...

yeah, as i said it requires a total revamp of the system and an abnormal lot of work and partnership from valve with other companies.
i'm looking now at the final product as it should be, not at the laziest way to use the current system to create a trading card game with the cards we have now.

purpose of this thread? if the final product is appesing steam users, convince valve that is worth the investment and put some work in it.

Why the hell do I care about Artifact? What is in this for anyone that doesnt play Artifact?

Are you going to pay for all that work?

Are you going to pay for all that work?

do i have to really answer? valve has the interest here, not me.
if valve see the opportunity surely they have the resource to do this.

i just tought of the final vision. you all are only talking about how hard and expensive is to get from A to B. that's Valve business, if they deem worth it, they have the resources to do it.
only 1 out of 4 people said that it was a good idea. the other 3 didn't gave an opinion about the final vision.
Also, a vision from the future:
"wow why i should buy this game on this store, when i can buy it on steam, and also drop some cards that have some actual value because they are being used in a card game that is becoming popular ?"(the last part of course depends on the quality of the product developed)
You are the one pitching your idea, you are the one with the interest in it. So far you project a lot of costs and not much gain for Valve. So yeah, you do have to answer that.
