what you primarily complain about is a temporary event that already could be done by future design standards and might look out of place because of this.
Valve has 3 problems: 300+ millions users, a general codebasis that is 10+ years old and flat company structure.
I don't complain. I point out that it sux. Period. This is not only part...there are many examples, i just pointed out few.
I understand valve's problems. That comes along with trying to own the world. Can't be #1 and don't expect this. What other platform offers more than steam? I can't think of one. Yet! I would like to see steam keep up. There is no need to gamble with users, alowing one day for another platfom to just take it's place, cause they didn't care enough.
Example check this several years old idea on how steam should look like.
I checked new valve's idea, and my comment is: Hire this guy instead. But I guess we will wait and see.

To myslef: Let's see what else is there...ooooh goodie.
Secondly, if you're critiquing, don't insult someone first by telling them they're not capable in their job. Right now you sound like a spoiled little kid who's never had to work within the constraints of multiple, conflicting requirements to deliver a product that works for the masses, not just your personal tastes.
Do I like the current UI? No. Does it get me from A to B with minimal fuss? Yes.
hmmm..makes you think. You're right though. I give you that...Kudos! UI in fact boils down to personal taste and needs! UX however is different thing, and subject to this topic.
If i did sound like spoiled little brat, i apologize for that.
This part:
"...to work within the constraints of multiple, conflicting requirements to deliver a product that works for the masses" In truth, Valve did far from this. They didn't deliver. Else steam would have a lot less problems. They even force VAC that doesn't do a thing. Proof? Milion of cheaters in Cs:Go...with article that Valve banned 5000 users for cheating. Only? Those 5000 ppl have 10 cheating accounts each. If Valve bans one, they just go and buy another two. That's ok, but chaning your password is fellony which gives you 14 days of trade cooldown. Reinstall steam mobil app does the same. Sight...if i would to list everything wrong with steam in current state, not even touching the look, i would still need a year.
I just seriously hope they will do something that will bring smile to my face and say Steam is awesome man. Here take my money, You worth every penny.
There are number of fine skins, and skinning is really just changing few things about current appearance, it's not really UI.
But again, this is more about UX, not UI. Ui is not good..but i can take it. UX is what is really bad here. Only Valve can change that.
From now on you're 0 to me. 100% ignored in every way. I can do that since you went so low showing everyone who can check the same thing that youre just one lying $08.

Washell, mate, and everyone else normal ppl who replied, thanks for the talk. Good thing came out of it...I found out that valve is working on new feel and will wait to see what they come up with. I don't wanna do this topic anymore and i think it's time to let it die. Cheers all! I'm out!
Also the UI is bland. There are no themes whatsoever. I shouldn't have to rely on buggy non-working third party stuff to change the general theme of this thing. And no I dont sit here staring at it all day, I'd rather play games but would be nice if there was a better UI for sure.
If you know anyone great at UX, encourage them to apply.
