Hire a professional UX/UI designer
Topic! Did Valve ever heard about UX? Here's defintion :

User experience design (UX, UXD, UED or XD) is the process of enhancing user satisfaction with a product by improving the usability, accessibility, and pleasure provided in the interaction with the product.

Steam doesn't have this. This new ablum and stickers which should be most interesting thing about this new summer sale, was done so poorly that it became most anoying thing. Reasons?

#1 Album and stickers should be accesable within one or two at most clcisk from any other location on steam. It's not...I don't even know where it is, before clicking on store and details and whatelse.

#2 It's designed by a guy with 1 day experience, 0 knowledge of UX honsetly (or better yet not designed at all, just however put together). Anyone in steam comunity would do better job than this, and half of them even for free. Who, from your designers, thought that putting album pages separetly with scroll bar and above album is good thing? With today's design standards. Afterwards, putinng sticker packets below album, and then having to scroll up and down whenever i click on sticker and scroll up to see what i did...I have no idea what I did....

Now when I think about it...

#3 Entire steam interface looks like 30 years old. Need more use of Eye Candy and better placement of stuff. Also need overall not better UX and UI, but start introducing one first.. Then WAAAAAAAY better than this. Only reason steam is still most popular, because of lack of competition in the market. First platform that introduces more than 2% effort will crush steam to the ground and the reason is only one.

Because you don't care about users! At all! Starting with support, trough poor desisions, finishing at caring only for personal pockets.

There is a lot proof for this claim.

One example: today I used mobile steam app to sell an item on the market, and I had to confirm action on steam mobile app so steam knows I use steam mobile app (even though funcionalty and design of the same is ridicolous).

With respect...well at the ammount you deserve.
- Long time user out.

Let's see will you ban me, punish me, or actually listen to honest user insight who would like to see steam at it's best!

You do know that they have been working on a new version of the client, right?
wuddih 2017 年 6 月 27 日 下午 4:14
leaked conceptual design[raw.githubusercontent.com] of a new client after that Valve said that they work on a new client iteration which might look that way.

what you primarily complain about is a temporary event that already could be done by future design standards and might look out of place because of this.

Valve has 3 problems: 300+ millions users, a general codebasis that is 10+ years old and flat company structure.

It's about time for new client design...Or actually it was long overdue..but hey better late then never.

I don't complain. I point out that it sux. Period. This is not only part...there are many examples, i just pointed out few.

I understand valve's problems. That comes along with trying to own the world. Can't be #1 and don't expect this. What other platform offers more than steam? I can't think of one. Yet! I would like to see steam keep up. There is no need to gamble with users, alowing one day for another platfom to just take it's place, cause they didn't care enough.

Example check this several years old idea on how steam should look like.
I checked new valve's idea, and my comment is: Hire this guy instead. But I guess we will wait and see.

You are literally complaining to complain. Stop being annoying and let them do their work. They hire people who have alot of experience, have you considered a platform on this scale may take its time?
Ireth Tassartir 2017 年 6 月 30 日 下午 3:00
I repeat. I don't complain. I point out the facts. I know how much time would it take. UI/UX is my job. Stop being so judgemental and don't spread hate..I don't have intention to insult anyone on user list. Bye now!

To myslef: Let's see what else is there...ooooh goodie.

I hate that UI. Horribly inefficient use of space once you have more than two screens worth of content. Which brings me to my first point: a large part of UI boils down to personal taste and needs.

Secondly, if you're critiquing, don't insult someone first by telling them they're not capable in their job. Right now you sound like a spoiled little kid who's never had to work within the constraints of multiple, conflicting requirements to deliver a product that works for the masses, not just your personal tastes.

Do I like the current UI? No. Does it get me from A to B with minimal fuss? Yes.

Instead of waiting for Valve to create one. Try creating your own skin http://steamcustomizer.com/ and have that while you wait for a UI change.

Only that last sentence you said. Try browsing store, for some games, like discovery queue or smth, then click on Libary. Tell me how fast can you go to do tasks to get stickers on summer sale. I just need number of clicks and screens you will see before. One number is enough for reply. Try it. I'm not spoiled little kid. I'm just dissapointed user with number of friends who starts conversation with...god this steam is retarted...you know what happend to me today? ...

hmmm..makes you think. You're right though. I give you that...Kudos! UI in fact boils down to personal taste and needs! UX however is different thing, and subject to this topic.

If i did sound like spoiled little brat, i apologize for that.

This part:
"...to work within the constraints of multiple, conflicting requirements to deliver a product that works for the masses" In truth, Valve did far from this. They didn't deliver. Else steam would have a lot less problems. They even force VAC that doesn't do a thing. Proof? Milion of cheaters in Cs:Go...with article that Valve banned 5000 users for cheating. Only? Those 5000 ppl have 10 cheating accounts each. If Valve bans one, they just go and buy another two. That's ok, but chaning your password is fellony which gives you 14 days of trade cooldown. Reinstall steam mobil app does the same. Sight...if i would to list everything wrong with steam in current state, not even touching the look, i would still need a year.

I just seriously hope they will do something that will bring smile to my face and say Steam is awesome man. Here take my money, You worth every penny.

There are number of fine skins, and skinning is really just changing few things about current appearance, it's not really UI.
But again, this is more about UX, not UI. Ui is not good..but i can take it. UX is what is really bad here. Only Valve can change that.

So. Did what you asked. 1 click. 1 click it takes me to actually load anything in steam

Valve's number one priority is to minimize the steps between seeing a game and buying the game. That's always going to be in front of secondary things.

From now on you're 0 to me. 100% ignored in every way. I can do that since you went so low showing everyone who can check the same thing that youre just one lying $08.

Washell, mate, and everyone else normal ppl who replied, thanks for the talk. Good thing came out of it...I found out that valve is working on new feel and will wait to see what they come up with. I don't wanna do this topic anymore and i think it's time to let it die. Cheers all! I'm out!

You can keep up with a few things Valve is doing by watching for their videos on Valve News Network (VNN) on Youtube.
Winter 2017 年 6 月 30 日 下午 4:20
Op is right. The Steam UI is pretty terrible. I would love a better way to look at and organize my library of games. Would also love to see the video/media (if any exist on the main page when i click a game so I can remind myself what the game is that I bought. It's lttle things like that you think Valve would have put in the UI by now.

Also the UI is bland. There are no themes whatsoever. I shouldn't have to rely on buggy non-working third party stuff to change the general theme of this thing. And no I dont sit here staring at it all day, I'd rather play games but would be nice if there was a better UI for sure.

Valve have had a listing for "Visual and User Experience Designer" up on the jobs portion of their website for (probably) years: http://valvesoftware.com/jobs/job_postings.html

If you know anyone great at UX, encourage them to apply.
