Why? For you to display your random collection of internet videos?
That's like saying we shouldn't be using .jpeg because .jpeg is for photographs, and most photographs are stock images taken from the web.
This
No, we do not need this on Steam imo.
If you ask me, support for gif should be removed completely, if people need to show a movie, they can upload it to youtube.
Artwork and Screenshot sections are not intended for animated content. As Webms seem to be intended for video, not still images, so I don't see it being used to replace Artwork or Screenshots.
If you would like to suggest support for actual video files, then I could see that being a possibility in the future.

Sorry for the My Little Pony links, but this is the only other site I know of that supports webm.
They can upload it in a still imaged .gif format...or do as I suggested and request a video/animated showcase be added to Steam.
I am saying replacing .gifs is not going to happen.
There is also a site that can convert Webm to animated .gif.

Currently animated content is not supported on Steam. People are simply using a work around that could get plugged by Valve at any time, if they choose to do so.
So this argument boils down to do this cause it's the current year......
Not really a strong argument in my opinion
Ad hominem attacks aren't gonna help you either. If you want to be taken seriously, make a strong and well reasoned argument in favour of your proposal
