Steam level "0" in Friends & Chat list ?

Steam level "0" in Friends & Chat list ?

So i got a weird thing going on. I am 35 level and when my friends and i enter my profile my level seems okay, everything is normal. BUT when any of my friends or i hover over my name in chat list my level is shown as 0 with no badges above it. I wrote to support about this and they said thay dont have a fix yet for me. Anybody had any issues similar to this ? Any help will be greatly appreciated, cheers

it will not display the miniprofile unless the profile is public.
that's not intentional and an inconsistency with the other parts of Steam.

I see, so the reason is the latest profile update then but i didnt quite get it. Is this some kind of a bug or a server issue or something ? I mean its not a uber big problem but it is kinda annoying if you know what i mean. Thanks for the quick response btw. For a second there thought i was the only one with the problem. I couldnt find the other people's posts you had mentioned. Cheers

Mine is correct and shows my level?
Its not effecting everyone.

Your profile is set to private. It doesn't show steam level unless your profile is public. It's been like that for years.

Make it public and give it a few minutes and it should work.

I also just verified if this was still the case because I was set to "friends only" and switched to public and it shows again when you hover over.

But my steam friends too see tle level as 0 when they hover over my name. But i can see their level perfectly fine and they are private accounts like me

nevermind, posted late lol. Yep no problem!

Hmm, not sure then. What I mentioned seems consistent with what I see and happens to my profile.

I'm also going to set mine back to friends only which should go back to lvl 0 in a few minutes. But yea, maybe the system is bugged.

It looks like changing it from friends only to public does the trick. Like you said it needed a few minutes. Not sure im gonna stay in public but at least thats a solution for now.

Looks like it takes a long time for the forums though to update. Mine has been showing back to lvl 0 for a while now on Steam friends but forums hasnt updated.

But yea, odd reply from Valve because I thought this was intentional. Or maybe just a poor job from whoever replied to you.

"friends only" is enough for friends to see your level and stuff.

Yeah exactly. I just switch friends only and cant see my level when i hover over my name. My friends see it as 0 too

Yes i got it now, maybe they will fix this in the future. In the end i should be able to see my friends current badge and level when i hover over them or me in that case
