Trade scam reverse button
Valve should make a trade reversal button. That way, if any scams are made, there will be a set time to reverse any trades made within a specified time. That way, if you are scammed you can salvage your favoured items.

And what happens if the item was already traded again? Do you propose to reverse all trades with that item? Not going to happen. That would cause a snowball effect which would remove all trust in the trade system as no one could be sure if they can keep the item they just got in a trade.
Valve should disable trading completely so buffoons wouldn't even have the chance of being scammed with their own ignorance and greed.
I believe every trade should be put on hold for at least 24 hours then both parties have time to reflex.

Okay, maybe I didn't explain this properly. Sorry 'bout that.

As in, there would be a cooldown for all items so that items were recently traded can not be traded.
And how about people who trade away an item, but come to regret it? They can simply reverse the trade and thusly be very unfair to the new owner?

No, a better solution would be for people to stop being stupid and greedy, so they don't fall for scams or get phished.
the problem with that idea is that items you trade can be traded again , i can trade for a tf2 weapon with a bot , scrap it , together with another weapon , and use the scrap in a trade , what then ? should valve revert the scrapping process and restore the item , or what if that person uses that scrap to craft a refined and then use that to craft a hat , the original item simply will be too far gone by then

you already have to confirm things twice

the main reason we dont need this is simple , what you wrote is irrelevant
if you are scammed you can salvage your favoured items.

if its your favorite item , why did you trade it away to someone without getting anything in return , if the person promised money , they warning that you only get what is in the trade window should have alarmed you , if someone says " just borrowing pls" you say no

cant be a favorite item if you just give it away , you could send me a trade offer begging for items , i will ignore it and block you , if someone cant do that , they didnt deserve the item in the first place , or to say it differently , if you get scammed so easily , you had more money than you know how to handle , because if you scam me of a 5€ item , i just laugh at you because i currently have like 300€ a month , thats nothing for me , i sometimes buy junkfood for a higher price , for a young child it would be the end of the world because they only get 10€ a month and they just lost 5€ for nothing

if they could reverse it ,they wouldnt learn a lesson , i never got scammed but i burned alot of money on league of legends that i later regretted that was the lesson for me to always just keep a minimum of 150€ on my bankaccount no matter what , if i want 2 games for 120€ ,i can buy them , as long as i dont drop below 150€ , same for stuff like a monitor , mouse , keyboard , whatever

im going to a mall now , if i see a good mouse ( kinda unhappy with my roccat kone emp , generally unhappy with roccat recently , i will probably switch to corsair ) i can buy it , because i know how much money i have , and i dont just give it away to strangers

No. If you got scammed, it is your own fault. If the stuff in place already doesnt protect you, then nothing will.
- trade item against gift card or paypal
- cash out/spend money
- reverse trade

I am not an evil person. I do not have a criminal mind. Yet it never takes me more than five seconds to see how some of these suggestions can be misused.

100% agree, it seems to be about time to remove that feature, there has been nothing but drama since it was introduced.

They have the in CS:GO. Every item traded has a 7 day cooldown. Ask in the CS:GO forum how they feel about it.

Agreed. Something I have always felt would improve Steam by a large amount. No trading, you reduce scams by 90% (imho) as well as hijacked accounts, shady 3rd party sites, ect. Just have people use the market as that is a far more secure option.

There's already a statistic for traded items. I'm pretty sure you can't trade recently traded items immediately after getting them. TF2 upright tells you that you can't trade it, while most games I believe latently have the same feature.

I had someone who had an entire background of information, through fake steam discussions, fake steam titles, and even fake steam websites that looked very legitimate, who prompted me to put all my items into a trade menu to "check for possible duplicates". As I look back on it now it was pretty stupid and looks ridiculous now, but in that situation I literally was scared that this might be an actual moderator and if I didn't comply I'd get in trouble.

You have to understand that regardless of how stupid the situation looks in the moment we love steam a lot and don't want to be exiled in some form. Don't say it's their fault.

I will continue to do so. There are multiple warnings all over the trade process.

If you dont read them, and get scammed, it is 100% absolutely your fault. Extra anything will not help you.

If you put all of your items in a trade window and gifted them away; then you are a fool who ignored explicit warnings on the page and I have no sympathy for you at all. If anything, you should be banned from trading for your own safety.

Personally, I feel as others in the thread. If trading between accounts was eliminated, I would have not a single care. I would not be inconvenienced in any way. The community as a whole would be better off without the trade system; removing it would remove probably 99% of all scams., and certainly stupid people would no longer get scammed so easily.

There is a warning if you place items in the trade window and the other person does not, that you are essentially giving them that as a gift. If that process is too complicated for some, they should stop trading all together.
