So you think that your user_account is somewhat more secure than login with email or even with 2FA?
As you may know, when you login with other Computer/Browser you must check your email to be able to login. Using your Nick and checking with email would be a good combo.
If you fear about your email, be aware that your user_account is in there. So, there's not point to say that using anything "that has to be confirmed by email" is more secure than anything other.
Anyway, thank you for let me know your opinion.
This is my exact case, i HATE to see part of my account_name. If i where able to migrate games i would delete it NOW. And if i didn't spent more than 20€ i will delete it too.
This is not totally true. On website it's the user_account.
Ingame, the main item is nickname, but if you expand it, the logout shows the account_name.
The idea is to get it out, hidden as much as possible, like the ID.
2) same, you can have multiple accounts with the same contact email. so this is also not a unique identifier.
Nice point. But the problem is already present, and no matter what you choose you can end hating it except if you choose something like 039434934. Maybe i should call me like an ID and change my Nick later.
+1
Of couse i am not talking about the present things. The present things doesn't let me to do that, and that's the reason to be of this thread. So:
1) Nick is not unique. Understood. The real thing here is that user_account is a "nick" itself instead of an ID.
2) Understood, but you could have same emails in both accounts, but just be able to login each account on each email. I don't see the problem.
Again, the real problem is that the user_account is useless being used as a Nick. There are many services on wich you just login using an ID like "DFDFSD234" or whatever.
I am sure that the people who created the user_account many years ago did not think so much about that. The same way, I didn't think so much when i created the account.
Im not blaming, just asking for a change.
Regards.
I mean at most you ever login to steam 1-2 a year, usually less then that. So no biggie
