Too many games in the library : auto-sort options !!!
hi

I have too many games now. games I forgot i buyed, games I never played, games I played 20 minutes, games I don't even know I owned.
going through the library is like digging a pile of old stuff in the attic, it's fun but it's totally not doable on a daily basis.

because of this I mostly only play games on top of the list. or games that have been installed since forever.

now I'm afraid of getting bundles or doing the steam sale or clearing my wishlist because of this : I buy plenty of games that seem interesting and they get instantly lost in the pile.

I also get in this situation : I remember buying a good indie game a few weeks or months ago but I can't remember its name, and it's a pain to find it when it would take a few seconds with tags.

and the worst is that I know people who own like 3 or 4 times more games than myself (and yes, it's way worse for them)

there should be a way to auto-sort games in the library : by type (steam tags), by hours played, by purchase date, by popularity, randomized...

doing categories isn't an option BTW. way too much work.

cheers

should come this year.

Setting up catagories takes time but once you have your catagories setup its quick and easy to put games in them.

EDIT: Games can be assigned to multiple catagories. I have a currently playing catagory that I use to keep the games I'm playing regularly in an easy to find place.

If you roughly know when you bought the game, then search your account licenses (sorted by date).

I've had some luck using https://github.com/rallion/depressurizer in the past. Although a native solution is preferable...

I don't want to manually set each and every game in my library according to steam's tags. it's an awfully huge amount of work to do. when it could (and I hope, will) be automatic.
I don't consider gaming important enough in my life to do this (it only comes like in 4th or 5th position of stuff I prefer to do in my life)

I use Library>Installed for this.

ok. depressurizer isn't that great.
as soon as you get a new game you have to do it again.
and you may also "lose" a badly tagged game at the bottom of a category you don't check much.

a real dynamic filtering system would be better.

I didn't say using Steams tags I said you could set your OWN catagories. Yes it'd take time at first but once you have catagories you want it's quick and simple to add new games where you want them.

Your suggestion to sort by Steams tags is fine. I find browsing the store using Steams tags isn't that great. I'd rather spend a little time organising my Library the way I want.

I only commented to say that using your own custom Catagories takes a little time to begin with. But once done it's easy to organise and add new games as you get them in just a few seconds.

Fair enough. I have several games installed at the same time, 87 to be exact. I haven't started playing lots of them or have completed them but never uninstalled them.
Right click a game, Set Categories..., Hide this game in my Library. It's brilliant. Also there's "Add to Favourite"

you're both out of topic.
I'm talking about automatic sorting.
I already have some categories.
