[SUGGESTION] undo vote for workshop items
I was recently banned from voting for workshop items since I've upvoted an item that was later removed and banned. While I find this and this rule utterly idiotic and deserve an investigation of its own, I want to suggest that if someone misclickls a like/dislike for a workshop item to have the option to unvote.

Right now the only option to cancel upvote is to downvote and to cancel downvote is to upvote so it may lead to two unfortunate states:
1. you can't cancel upvote and get banned if the mod is too spicy.
2. you misclicked and doesn't think that a particular mod deserve an upvote (not good enough or duplicate of another mod but with different implementation) and doesn't deserve a downvote either (it's not bad or have misleading description). It's just "meh" (aka Zangief's thumb-side).

The easiest and most intuitive way to implement it is just like the "like" button on Facebook. You click once - you like. You click again you UNLIKE but NOT DISLIKE. If there was a dislike option it would be a thumb down just like the downvote in the workshop.

If my suggestion is already implemented so consider this post as a bug report since I could not undo my upvote and got me, in my opinion, wrongly banned.

Also tech support could not help me (or told me so and could which is possible due to the accusations of my banishment and nature for said mods) and having no way to appeal to an auto-ban from the system, even if it is only for a single function for a few days and not a total ban, is freakishly dangerous and discouraging to participate in community activities.

I mean seriously, one out of place joke or misunderstood joke could get one banned with no option to appeal? Why would I give any feedback if it could lead me to lose my 2000+ games on a comment or even worse ON A VOTE FOR A MOD with later one being THE SOLE REASON FOR MY BAN.

How would you lose your games?

as far as I know you can't get banned for voting on workshop for voting.

Are you sure you weren't banned from game hub for something else and now you can't vote?

a bit overblown. that is a temporary voting ban. nothing more.
it is there to protect against possible voting manipulation and triggers afaik 5 items upvoted being removed within a week.

the maximum negative effect on your account this can have is a community ban and that would require massive organized voting manipulation.

it even has the desired effect, you learned to consider to stop upvoting garbage.

"Upvoting garbage" is subjective. Also I don't see how one can perform voting manipulation from a single account.
Also it's not a reason not to have a way to handle misclicks.

You do understand valve (temporarily) bans all accounts involved, not just yours right?
teh1archon Oct 26, 2018 @ 7:26am
I do. And I represent myself as an example for what seems to me to be the missing functionality of canceling your own vote. If Valve could put games together I'm sure they can put an undo option.

And also a stupid policy. But let's start with undo option.
Washell Oct 26, 2018 @ 2:33pm
Even if they did an undo option, it's highly likely that people who voted for several revoked mods would still get banned, regardless whether they undid it or not. It would be too open to abuse otherwise.

I also find it hard to believe you got (temp) banned for a single event.

Correct. Multiple votes in a short span are needed to issue a temp ban.

It's not really subjective. If an item is removed then it's completely irrelevant to the game, and/or copyright content which should not be in the game/breaks UGC policy/etc.

Is banning for voting for removed item really a thing? :2018thebesteye:

You are responsible for where your mouse clicks - if you didn't want to upvote, be sure of where you are clicking.
