What about add "Notepad" to the Steam library
How do you look at how to add a notepad to the library to put notes for each particular game.
Notepad can be opened from the menu that appears when you right-click
This would be convenient for putting notes in games in which a complex plot, many quests, etc.

Any programmer can create a simple text editor from code libraries, it'd only complicate and uglify steam to be using notepad and steam isn't just on windows.

I've nothing against adding notes to games, such a feature could be added to the steam overlay.

I also like the idea of adding personal notes to games in the library.

And what speaks against using Notepad? Or offline pen and paper?

The problem with adding features to Steam is they often end of half-arsed, ad bloat, and might pose security risks.

For example:
Someone puts his third party accounts log-in data in Steam notes (uPlay, Origin, Rockstar Social Club, game specific accounts ...). They get their Steam account hijacked and now all their other accounts are also hijacked. All ingame stuff is gone. And Steam gets the flak because they thought it would be safe.

And you just *know* that someone *will* put their credit card information as notes.

Whats wrong with making a folder on your desktop and putting txt files in there to use for notes. Seems like a far better idea.

Because like a lot of people, they believe just because a company is doing one thing, they should do everything. Somehow op managed to point out how to open note pad for a game by right-clicking and then selecting the note(s). That would be no different than adding a shortcut to a folder (as you suggested) on the task bar that one could simply click and then open which ever note(s) they would want. But op would rather valve take that time to implement something that is virtually already there than any other task.
