Make Steam (keyboard) copy paste function reliably.

I don't know if this is an issue with this platform (AM2+, AMD Athlon64 and Phenom, USB keyboards) or performance (USB and weak CPU and polling) or software (Windows on that platform? Steam specifically?) though I feel it's waaaay more common with Steam / only happening on Steam.

The thing is that copy paste doesn't really work with the Steam chat window. Just occassionally.

Often when I select some text in a chat tab in Steam and copy the text and then went to another tab and paste it there I get some old copied content instead of the new one. And it may happen again and again. Of course eventually it may also work. Possibly from right clicking and choosing copy instead of using ctrl-c on the keyboard. It's possible it's connected to whatever you are showing notifications like invites to a game or if that tab have had one such invite or something. Because sometimes one definitely CAN copy content. It's just that it doesn't work reliably and often mess up.

You do realise this isn't the bug reports subforum right?

You also realise that steam does not and cannot affect your clipboard or the windows shortcuts right? Something is clearly wrong with your setup.

I think its likely that it's just something that is taking the focus that is the issue, even that I am not sure what it is yet
Maybe its notifications or something else that take the focus from the Steam client and then when you do Ctrl+C its not really marked on the letters even if it looks like it is

I don't know where they want it.

It's not "clearly" wrong. And it's there all the time through multiple installs so it's either how USB work with weak machines and a bit of CPU load or its Steam.

Considering I can copy content in notepad and the Web browser all the time but ONLY Steam work like ♥♥♥♥ all the time I'd say it's definitely Steam and that you are full of ♥♥♥♥.

How about your garbage false claims then? If it were the steam client, EVERYONE would have this issue, see a whole lot of people complaining about it? Any 38 year old with a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and 30 years of using a computer would already know that if only a small subset of people are having the problem it's a conflict from something else.

So which part are you lying about?

Try then to use the right click copy then, or do Ctrl + C more then once while selecting it more than once

I did see things steal focus more then once and think that may be the issue, but Not really sure how to really find out if its that or not

It's not an issue limited to Steam. I have it fail quite often on different programs.

Wasn't part of the original claim.
Definitely a much larger problem in Steam / possibly only happening there so regardless of whatever it's Steam exclusive or not it's a Steam problem.

I'm not sure what you mean but I want him to understand when he's unwanted and why. As for whatever I should do it from an account I actually use could of course be argued but I'm not on Steam to troll and cause trouble like he may be so hence I have no plan for how to get away with acting like ♥♥♥♥.

It's happening with Steam a lot.
I can't really remember it happening somewhere else but keypresses are definitely lost or thrown around in order every now and then so I don't trust keyboard input in general. I don't know why that happen. It's a Cooler Master keyboard with nkey rollover support on USB on a pair of ASUS AM2+ boards. Keyboard should be in 6 key / BIOS compatible mode now but it happen there too. No idea if it support acting as a PS2 one or say whatever it can have a very small / no buffer for keypresses or whatever.

I word it vaguely on purpose because I'm not sure and open for possibilities rather than the other person.
