Please allow searching for friends via email or their account names
Maybe 7-8 years ago Steam removed the feature where you could search for a friend by their login account name as opposed to their current username. Can't you add it back in? Allow people to search for their friends by login name, current username, or email address? It would make scrolling through rows of players easier.

This became a problem for me because I was always known as "SuPeRMaN" and had to switch to "Zellieth" so that new friends could add my unique username.

No one should have access to anthoer users account name. That is just bad account security and usually leads to account hijackings.

Share profile URL links next time.

That's a good point but how am I supposed to text a new friend my account URL name?

Through SMS or another chat service.

Share your profile link. No problem finding you. Also, if you're an active member, you'll be near the top, or so I think? Any time people search my current user i'm almost always the top.

I'll let you sit and re-read when you just typed and see what's wrong with that.

okay so I type this in a text "https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197966389565/" you don't think that is a little absurd?

Copy/pasting it is not much.

Through PC it's easy but not through text message. You go to a bar, you make a new friend, you want to play games with them, but then send them that long URL?

well, every mildly modern phone will see this is a url and let you open it in a webbrowser .. and in days of 5 billion social network/media platforms, which all have private messaging functions ... it should be absolutely zero problems to sent a link to someone. we have 2018, this was not even an issue 1996 when i started using icq.

Find your profile in a broswer and tap/hold on the address bar "copy" and paste it in a text to your new friend. It takes them directly to the page.

14 years on Steam and can't figure out the impact that revealing usermanes or email addresses could have ?

Just put a custom url name and instead of your profile name you spell to your new friend from the bar the custom url name.
