guess the facebook approach would be better.
who can send friend requests?
everyone
friends of friends
would also incentivise to clean up the trash.
in case of Steam the limited account paywall can also be optionized.
would also give people one more anchor point to learn that this exists.
Steam level makes no sense to optionize, if attackers were already willing to invest money, the $5 to unlimit the account with, get them to level 20+ without much of a brain.
No, when i accept new friends there friends add me and so on...
And besides that, that is a part of the problem, I should be able to be in groups without being spammed with FI´s.
What do you think about the question of the topic?
Thats my point, some players dont want anyone to be able to send them requests.
Not even friends of friends.
Why dont u agree with an option to let us disable or hide the button?
Ever since they limited accounts, and I left spam groups, I rarely get out of the blue invites any longer.
But now you giving me the blame, and this is the problem.
I demand an option for me and other users who doesnt want to be added by others.
I shall be able to be in groups if i want without being added by other users.
This option does not harm you, it gives people like me the freedom to decide to hide the button or not.
you have the option make your profile friendsonly or private and to remove yourself from leaderboards and groups that are elevating your status on Steam.
that would surely mitigate the amount of requests towards zero.
if you expect to walk over red carpets without people trying to get in contact with you, then you chose the wrong path.
As I said before, you put the blame on me when the resp. is on others.
Second you havent motivated why you want to censor this function for users.
No theres no right to add others on steam, and i reuquest to hide the add button.
It feels u have some kind of demanding toughts about have the right to add people always, I can tell you that is wrong, peoples intg. goes first.
If there is no "blame" (notice the quotes, your word) on your end, then two simple questions:
How are the finding you?
Why are these people adding you?
I have zero doubt that you are contributing to this in some way. You dont appear to be a major trader, by profile, so there is something else.
If you walk down the street and a bunch of perfect strangers kick you in the butt, maybe it is time to check to see if someone hung a sign on your back...
That group yourein? Its partnered with THIS group:
‣ Official MiKapp1t's Mates
The largest fan based giveaway group on Steam.
Your spam invites are coming from that group, or derivations/partners of that group.
Its not my responsibility if/when people add me. Its their actions and choices.
I told you in past years this occurs mostly when i had many friends. But thats not the important aspect of this topic, the answer I want from you is why you are against a option for users to hide their add friend button.
Im in Steamladder since im one in the staff, and 1. havent heard of that group, 2. the spammers comes from friend friends not that group.
Now tell me why we cant do this:
OPTIONS
Who can invite you?
x Every1
x Only Fri3nds
x N01
But you pretending that it is a hostile actions that "people are responsible for" is pure insanity. Get. Over. Yourself.
You have done something to inspire "100 to 150 people" to add you every day. You are not blameless.
Being part of a vanity group, with ties to a giveaway group is a likely source.
Which are a consequence of your actions and choices. That's what AmsterdamHeavy means.
And yes people are responsible for adding other peoples of +! They are living human beings making a choice. Regardless what I do its my freedom to be left alone of random friend adds.
Explain why u dont want us to have a choice to hide the button.
Explain to us why you get 150 friends requests a day if you arent looking for them. That is a far more interesting question.
People are just attracted to your magnetic personality? I think not.
It does not matter if i have 1 add or 100, the main question still remains and you refuse to answer it. So i guess you only doing this for fun or to be annoying?
Answer my question or stop write in the thread.
