reason: spammers
You need to add $5 on Steam to make account non-limited
Selling CDkeys in bulk for pennies was a spammer's paradise.
Looking at your account, you're only making this suggestion for your own personal gain.
Don't even need to go so far:
Release your low-effort game for five dollars, give spamm accounts free keys. As long as you make 100 dollars per burned developer account, you can keep it up.
No. Simply add $5 to your steam wallet. You're already going to spend money on a cd key from a shady site, may as well use it on steam where you can move to a non limited account.
If you can pay 5 bucks for a cd-key, why not spend that 5 bucks directly on steam?.
You can't technically do this as steam wont let you generate mass keys unless your game reaches a certain number of sales, basically the $1000 threshold. This makes it harder to recoup costs since you cant effectively spam keys until you spend a ton o fmoney
That's why I said per developer account.
I imagine it's much easier to set up multiple dev accounts, pay with your usual fraudulently obtained credit card and if gone through exploit the key system as much as you can. You'd probably be snatched from store for being obviously linked to a wave of spam or CC fraud than they block you from generating more keys until you hit the threshold anyway.
Well, easier than obtaining bundles for your accounts with different card and IP per account to not tigger the fraud protecion.
And yeah, I don't expect such people to use their own payment information or even money.
Steam wont pay out devs unless they hit a threshold, then you get paid 30 days after that. You cant really use stolen credit cards because you wont get 'unlimited' before the fraud is detected and revoked, meaning your 'net' never gets paid out before the fraud gets detected meaning you never get out of the 'learning' stage.
With dev accounts, even if your game becomes 'non limited' they wont issue you many keys since they correlate the key request with your actual sales. so you can't issue millions of keys that way either.
