Afterpay & Zippay
I think it'll be really good to have zip and afterpay as payment methods, it's good for people that can't make the full payment of the games they want to buy and that way they can buy more games and pay them at a later date. It'll be interesting to see if steam decides to do it, I think it'll be a good idea, something to think about, what are your thoughts?

If the person is able to pay for the electrical and internet bills in the first place, they should be able to save up money to buy the game that they want later on.

video games are non-essential, a luxury. you don't need video games. if you even consider paying such types of products on a credit/loan, you have a problem.

but it is quite funny that such a request comes from down under and that you actually have multiple payment seemingly popular services that offer this.

disturbing.

I don't personally use afterpay or zip pay on games but it is trending on other stores with clothes and appliances and is quite popular here.

Credit cards are already a supported payment method on Steam. That does exactly what you want.

Credit cards are a thing.

You realize that those 'payment' plans are... literally just gaining interest on your money right?

Not everyone can have a credit card though, such as those on disability support pension. Some banks do not see government support as a viable stable income, thus, outright rejecting credit card applications.

That's why they also have secured cards.

Doesn't really exist in Australia to my knowledge.

That's also a compelling reason to NOT use credit in any way.

Because if your credit score is so crap - like mine - the last thing in reality you ever want to do is get a new credit card to accrue even more debt.

It is a form of money management and promotes less reliance on credit card splurges which have interest, etc.
You can split the payments up over a period that you know you can budget ahead for with no extra fees or interest.

$80 becomes $20 per week per fortnight (two weeks) - making it easier for those who can budget a smaller amount per pay period rather than saving for 8 weeks to get something that may be on a limited sale.

Don't go judging those that you don't fully understand all circumstances of what real money management is about.

There are many that do abuse it and can't afford to, but that's their personal financial problem.

Australian banks give you the option to use use your atm card as a visa that only uses your own money - is what i use - so is no problem even for government support payment peoples.

And as most people here are saying if You have to use credit to buy a game you probably should not. Save that 20-30 a week first and then look at buying ....

People should learn to manage their money rather on a service that is akin to layaway but you get the product right away.

Sales will always happen. So if you miss one, it will be on another later on in the following month.

OR, if you are planning a large game purchase you could just buy a small amount of Steam wallet funds each pay period. Then when the time comes you've hopefully already saved up enough to make your purchase right away.
