Port Steam games to mobile!
Not every single game, but some of the games Valve made like Half Life 1/2, Portal 1/2, TF1, and L4D1/2. Game creators can port their games to mobile if they made it to.

But you must own the game before you can play it on mobile. This idea makes me want to play on Steam forever as I only get on the laptop when I have the chance to go to my nana's, as it is her laptop. But soon I will get my own PC/laptop.

But during like the beta or so, only Valve's games are on the list first. Before any other game creator can port their games onto mobile.

Please give feedback about this idea!

Technically that can be difficult to do, you can't just select an option and port a game, it takes a lot of work, a lot of the game code would likely need to be written again.

This is not for steam to do it's for individual dev/publishers and they have to decide if it's worth the effort for the financial return.

Also many games would need to be heavily optimised to be able to work on mobile, this could mean completely re-writing the graphics engine or creating a subset of the texture libraries. PCs are typically much more powerful than mobile phones.

Not to mention, the simple truth is. Many games aren't properly designed for mobile.

"Many games aren't properly designed for mobile."

Deus Ex, Max Payne, GTA, Need 4 Speed, Final Fantasy, Minecraft, Call of Duty (Strike Team not Heroes.)

I also mentioned, just only Valve's game for right now, other game creators can port them to mobile if they wanted to.

"you can't just select an toption and port a game"

That's not what I mean. Sorry for your misunderstanding.

It's possible, but definitely a challenge. Apple, Google, and Microsoft get 30% of games sold on their app store just like Valve gets 30% of games sales on Steam. Apple, Google, and Microsoft obviously want games sold through their store and not Steam's so they would likely block a Steam app where you could buy mobile games. For Google's Android, Steam could make a store app that has to be manually installed like the Amazon App store when google banned it for selling apps/games. For iOS and Windows mobile, you would have to jailbreak the device.

Even just distributing mobile versions of games you already own like say The Walking Dead has issues. Developing mobile versions takes time, money, and resources. Game developers would be afraid that people would expect mobile versions for free like how Steam Play allows you to get the Windows, OSX, and Linux version of any game you buy.

Then there's the fact that the games would have to be sold through the devices official store. It's against the TOS to create your own 3rd party store that allows people to install apps outside official channels.

AAA titles can cost literally hundreds of millions to make, those games would have to be completely remade for mobile. Mobile games players likely wouldn't be interested in paying console prices for games. Game makers certainly wouldn't be interested in spending millions in making a mobile port just so that people who aren't going to pay full price again can play the game on mobile, it's a matter of cost, I'm not against the idea at all, it just isn't financially viable for the people who make the games.

Okay

Mobile gaming has a completely different aspect to it. I wouldn't play a 1-2h round of Leaft4Dead on a phone.

One can only dream. GTA III can be played on mobile now. I never thought it could. Who knows one day we'll get to play witcher 3 on our mobile.

Forgot to mention: Hitman, Goat Simulator, Surgeon Simulator, and Call of Duty zombies.

Phones are not capable of playing PC games from the last few years.

True but many mobiles are just as powerfull as a laptop from 10 years ago apart form the graphics card. Most early Tomb Raider games should be able to run on top mobile hardware.

Play your game at home on PC, Play your game on the Bus or on the go, doesn't have ot be 4K.

This, but it can play a lot of lower-spec games from earlier years. That said...

Yeah, for most of these games, as well as a huge variety of other games, touchscreen controls just don't work very well, at least unless they're heavily redesigned.

Well, turn-based Final Fantasy games might work actually. That's the only except I can think of in this list.
