Steam stats | Games by Hours Played | by number of players (Avg)
I was thinking I would love to see in steam stats next to a game the total player hours for that game. Next to it would be an average i.e. 10,000,000m players divide by total hours played = average. Although not showing the toal number of units sold but just the result itself. And on top of that it would be great to see it tracked over a month.

this is all the stats they provide. Valve has no reason to provide you with more data.

Isn't this the the Suggestion forum for Steam? If they didn't want suggestions then why ask for them?

But regarding video game stats surely showing us the average number of hours per player isn't going to disclose anything terrible about the game?

Yeah, a 2h average for a 40 bucks game is not deteriorating sales in any way because people see how fast they'll likely be done with it. /s

I think this would be better in the upper right corner in the store when looking at a game you might buy. For example: Right below the average user rating, you could have average hours played. I don't want to go to another site and do that, I just want to see that on the same page as the store page. That way, if I see a game that has positive reviews but average time played is 1 hour, I can just pass and move on.

It wouldn't be remotely accurate. So many games people own and haven't played yet would skew the results so badly it would be pointless.
