Same here. Trying to use a PS3 controller with Gamepad Companion on Mac. Really tough transposing the key bindings. And I thought BL2 was full controller support by default? Doesnt work for me nor do I have an option for using a controler in my menu. Is it just a Mac thing? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

while i can't speak for the mac side of things, i have seen complaints in this forum as well as the gearbox forums about nonstandard xbox and ps3 controllers not working at all or only partially, theres even some people who complain about the spin of death

you can try using EventGhost to map the buttons. I used that to map my ps3 remote control (not gamepad) for use with my XBMC.

Well I got the controller to work.. just getting the right buttons is a pain...

I'm having a similar problem. I can use my ps3 controller for borderlands 2, but L1 and R1 aren't being detected. I'm just having major problems mapping out my controller. There has to be someone who can help us.

I ended up just getting a 360 controller way better anway.

I am apparently unusual in this, but I was using MotionInJoy in 360 emulation for a while to play, then one day I accidentally launched BL2 without MotionInJoy running... and it worked straight out of the box! Far better than with the emulation, in fact. The mappings were even picture-perfect without change. Windows 7N, x64, latest of whatever updates they pushed out lately, using a PS3 DualShock in USB corded mode. Haven't tried it Bluetooth style but I'm seriously doubting it would work.

*SixAxis. Not DualShock.

Set your controller to the Xbox 360 controller emulator setting in motioninjoy.
Don't even worry about mapping- the default controls are the same as the legacy controls on the PS3 version of the game.

It'll detect it automatically.

OR! Go to eBay and buy the wireless adapter with a xbox controller. BEST WAY!

I can help now found this thread today and found the response by luck :D
When you are using motionjoy and you use the xbox emulator you have to set l1 and r1 to left and right trigger on xbox and delete the marks a bit down. This way it shall work.

well motionjoy website won't come up on my mac so now none of my xbox or ps3 controllers will be able to play borderlands 2

I had trouble looking for any help for the longest time. I finally decided to go with Joystick Mapper. Glad I did. Go to the menu and under File-Load Examles!!! It took some time configuring and I think the buttons are mislabeled. either Gamepad Companion or JM have it wrong any way. Here is a link to my set-up. I tried emulating the regular PS3 settings for B2. Not perfect but playable. I took a screenshot and overlapped the two Button 15 at the bottom so you can see the whole setup. Sorry kind of sloppy. https://www.dropbox.com/lightbox/home/Public/Borderlands%202%20Key%20Bindings

Best advice just get an Xbox controller and call it a day.

OP: Most games now work out of the box for me with the PS3 controller. OSX 10.8-10.9 are very PS3 controller friendly. I even got it to work in Skyrim (Cider-wrapped). Haven't had one fail yet. Best bet is to just use the provided controller setting in Borderlands. Could also try "big picture" setting, since that makes all games PS3 controller friendly in my experience.

You people with the "Buy an XBox Controller" yapping are total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Whether or not you like that controller better, it has nothing to do with getting the OP's question answered. You're just clogging up forums with your useless fanboyism.
