Yes, one user per an account, one computer logged in at a time. What will happen is, your daught would get disconected, the game would either close or minimize, and a message would pop up saying she was disconnected.
That is about it. You won't lose your account or games.
The thing you could do, depends on your daughters age of course, is that she creates her own account, and you could pay and gift her the games she wants to her account.. Then you both can play on 2 different accounts with the same router.. Hope this was helpful..
If Computer A is logged and you log on the same account on Computer B, computer A will simply log off Steam.
You can put one of the computers on Offline Mode too, that way your daughter will be able to play offline games while you play Skyrim, or other online game on the other computer.
Many parents use the same trick. ;)
[Edit: Double ninja'd :D]
Check the store page for whatever game you want to try, see if it has Steam Cloud listed in it's features on the right side.
It might work perfectly for you (particularly if you use your different machines only in locations where they have reliable internet access), but you might find it problematic.
You can also use family sharing if you wish to use the games on/with other Steam accounts.

Over 90% (not an actual number) of Steam games and software are linked to Steam and can't be launched without a Steam account owning a licence to launch those.
Awesome, thanks for the feedback! I especially appreciate you also explaining what would happen if you were to leave your PC logged into Steam and then log into Steam again using your laptop (either accidental or not).
Ninja'd or not, this is also a very useful tip!
Thanks to the both of you!
That would be the easiest way with each of you owning your own games.
