As a long shot you can also try a different cable and maybe different USB slot too.
Right so, then you should try what crunchyfrog says and try updating or reinstalling your pad drivers....
There is a couple ways you can do this:
#1. Check the controller's developers support page. Depending on the name of the controller and the developer, each one should have it's own download page.
#2. You could try in device manager in windows on the controller name. Right click on it and click update driver. Either it will find a new one, or it will take you to windows update, where you should run it to see if there is a update.
The problem is the USB driver for what drives the joystick - not the controller nmanufacturere's driver.
You need to google for a driver for YOUR PC or motherboard.
