CORRUPT UPDATE FILES when installing to D Drive instead of C
As the title says, I keep getting this error whenever I install any game on my D drive. My C Drive is almost full so I need to install it on another one. I've already tried clearing the download cache, deleting the contents of the "downloading" folder, and adding Steam and the downloads folder as an exclusion on my anti-virus. Please help. Thank you,

Try this

1) open task manager

2) go to startup tab

3) disable everything there except realtek sound

Restart computer and try to see if problem still happen

That didn't fix it either

I also tried updating my BIOS but that didn't work either

Start your system in safe mode (for obvious reasons with networking) and report results

Corrupt, means that the verification of the files being in tact failed. How is that possible?
The answer is simple. There is something wrong with the drive.

Run crystaldiskinfo and see if it is still healthy. I don't think it is.

Edit:
Just saying this here. If Steam downloads a file and there is not enough room, the process is cancelled and removed. It is not verified; therefore it isn't a 'corrupt update file'. Rather you get a different error; something related to the disk. (Not enough space for example)

Also "something wrong with the drive" doesn't nessecarily mean it is broken. Perhaps it is loosely connected and because of that, doesn't receive enough power and causes bugs in writing or something.
What crystaldiskinfo reads is data that the drive itself has about how healthy it is. It doesn't perform tests.

Backup your games and save files, then reinstall Steam on D if you absolutely need to force Steam to use the other drive.

Here's what the program says. Is this good?

I actually tried doing that earlier. Steam installed but then later bugged out after a while. It said that the installation was corrupted or something. Reinstalling it on C fixed the issue

I've had that issue before too, on my D drive. I had to move the game to one of my SSDs and update it, then move it back. Seems to happen randomly and I could never trace the issue to a source, so could be multiple things interacting at once that causes it.

Looks good.

Is the cable properly connecting the motherboard to the disk?
And can you test just... installing something onto the disk without using Steam, like.. idk,
.... a big program maybe?

Open Broadcasting Studio or Blender or GIMP or something?
(I'll list a few links with stuff you can try to install. feel free to pick something else. I just want to know if it is because of steam that this fails or not. You can remove them later.)

How about trying to install games that don't require steam platform?????

Any game that is more than 20 gb of disk space to your D drive

p.s blizzard entertainment gaming platform on D drive and one of its free games on D drive

I tried installing GIMP on my D drive. It worked the first time, but after restarting, it returned this error:

gimp-2.10.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point IsDBCSLeadBytdEx could not be located in the dynamic link library D:\GIMP 2\bin\libfribidi-0.dll

The same thing happened to my copy of Steam when I tried to install it on D as well

Kindly provide a list of all the programs you have on your computer

---------

I can easily tell ''false positives'' have occurred
no154370 Jul 24, 2024 @ 8:34am
one of your programs deleted the ''exe'' files and other part of the files silently and with no notification and warning

p.s that program is harming you rather than protecting the computer
