Windows 10 game crashing fix.
This not be of much help to alot of people but was I found out that helps is if you open up the .exe of the game file and right click, properties, then go to compatability mode and select windows 7.

Has never failed for me so far hopefully this helps some that did the change to win 10.

Yeah I upgraded and well that's an odd work around I found most games crash without reason but using compatbility mode makes it work for now.

You should be happy people like the OP and myself want to try them on Windows 10. It is valuable feedback for Valve and game developers, since it is the next version of Windows that will be coming out. <3
I have had nothing but headaches with 7, and 8.1 is pretty freaking solid if you just use Windows for games. I'm so glad my primary games are available in Linux. XD
It depends on what you do with you computer, I suppose. I rarely ever use cmd in 8.1 (except to check ipconfig or use diskpart). In 7, it was the same. I have zero compatibility issues on both; this part is too subjective though. I have never had to run anything in compatibility mode in 8.1, but I would say that is because I only ever use Steam (+games), Raptr, Firefox, Mumble, and a handful of other applications.

10, on the other hand, is still in Technical Preview, which means there's going to be a TON of problems. As it is right now, Steam only works for some people in 10, and not others. Everything Steam-related in 10 crashes right now, but I will be checking again after they release their next "slow" cycle.

Yes some games are a hassle to play on 10 right now but like I have said the compatbility mode works wonders on most games I own. That's a bit of a risk I took but if my experience helps others then so be it.

hi
HI :)
Tried this fix on three pretty big valve titles. Will report back.

Team fortress 2 didnt even last 15 mins before audio looping and crashing out as per the usual.

So I just made a Windows 10 clean install and imported my games from a backup, and every single one is crashing... Some of them get fixed by setting the Windows 7/8 compatibility but some are still crashing even with that.

Any idea how to fix that?

drivers installed? mobo/gpu/sound? no?

also install the pre-requisities the games would usually install on their first launch which you circumvented with your "import thing"

and next time please dont hijack and necro other threads

as for the topic, nearly all of "windows 10 + game problems" are user fails.

Thanks for the feedback, I don't understand why you said I "hijacked" this thread, I just made a research and I ended up here because the context was similar than mine, but thanks anyway.

Steam Backups/Restore install the prerequisites of each game the first time you launch it, I'll expect it does everything correctly.

As for drivers, things got better for while when I removed and instaled again my nvdia drivers, but then the problem got bigger when in games I got BOSDs, I'm still invesgating the cause.
Again, thanks for the feedback.
<script>alert("Hahaha XSS");</script>
I have the same problem. games used to run well in full screen. but now, they don't the only solution that I found was to launch the game in a borderless window, at least for now
