I own a few games on CD's yet cant register them on steam...halp
So over the years I have bought games like Dawn of War II, Companies of Heroes 2 and my son used to play them on his old pc.

He's since lost his pc, his passwords etc and lost interest in the games themselves. So I'd like to play them, I have the CD's but if I try to install them it asks for all this steam stuff which I don't understand.

I tried to contact support but it says my email is already registerred. So I asked for a reminder and it says there is no such email in the system...

So is there a way I can play these games I have paid for and hold in my sweaty little hands?

If anyone can help it would be greatly apreciated.

If I have to dissassociate these games from my sons old account how would I go about this?

Retail / Digital CD Keys What is a CD key and where can I find it? Which retail / digital CD Keys are accepted on Steam? (Link)
Only the games on that list can be activated on Steam.

Games that have already been activated cannot be activated again.

They have been activated on my sons account. The DOW have been activated on an old account of mine which I lost the passwords for.

There must be some way of getting these back when you own the original CD surely

nope. the cd were and are useless. the license key matters, and that you already activated somewhere. you might get back the account with the key. but licenses or accounts wont be merged.

Support can help you with getting access to your old accounts but you can't transfer games from one account to another.

halp
An exaggerated form of help, usually used when in distress.

Thanks for all the reply guys, I'll try and regain access to the old accounts.

Having spoken to my son again he plays dota on steam so I assume only one person can login to an account at a time? apart from that I might struggle to revive the old accounts as I owed the domains which the emails were part of back then and now the domains are dead and buried so access to the email accounts are gone too.

I would have thought loss of email access is fairly common though so hopefully there is a way around this.
