Steam Client Webhelper memory usage
I'm not very familiar with this, but i'm pretty sure Steam Client Webhelper shouldn't use over 1.4GB of RAM, especially when i'm playing Dota 2 and all Steam softwares are closed.
It is literally using 100% of RAM and slows down every other programs, including Dota (ping goes over 1000 ms, packet loss is 40%+) and it is nearly impossible for me to shut down that process in time (it takes me about 10 minutes just to minimize dota + 15 min to open task manager etc...).
I'd really appreciate any kind of help that can solve this issue. Thanks.

you are heavily using the steam overlay? yes? use your normal webbrowser instead and alt+tab manage the stuff.

Yesterday all i did was trade some cards and look for deals for about 30 mins or so and steam was about 1.2gb and 1 of the webhelper things was 100k, im tired of the memory leak.

That's the thing, i don't use steam at all while playing, only for chatting (shift + tab ingame), sometimes the process just go way up and f**** me up.

Before they did the webhelper thing steam used to still go up but it took longer, like a few weeks, fair enough i dont trade cards all the time only on these events. Now its going up by a few 100k a day.

steam web helper is very crash prone and it fails to detect when the process is stalled.... so i concluded they pretty much put it in to get some sponsors aproval

i forgot to mention it also induces occasional hiccups in games ( split second freezes resulting in a dropped frame "seems to need to peroidoicly reload itself while your playing games")

Has been a week that when I open steam I often have to terminate the aforementioned process, or I am unable to view any page other than those in the Library section.

Also I have at least 2 steamwebhelper.exe *32 services running, and one of them uses an incremental quantity of memory, ending up to be 1/2Gb before I notice that and I terminate it.

Terribly annoying. Needs to be fixed ASAP.

I've noticed when i use the market a lot the memory goes up faster, it takes a day or 2 instead of a week or so to get the same number.

I don't know what's up with my installation, but it takes me 30 minutes/few hours, without even browsing the market.
I browse Discussions and Profiles usually.

Do you really have to necro a 6 year old thread?

However I do also have the similar problem as well. Someone made a workaround post and have you try removing "What's New" shelf from your Steam Library?

For whatever that workaround somehow works for me.
