Steam Download speeds going slow

So I have a 50Mb/s DL speed, which normally works perfectly with Steam. I am trying to download the update for Firefall, and I see that it is sitting at 5kb/s with a peak of 500kb/s. I went ahead and checked my internet speeds on a couple of speed test sites, and it is showing all of my speed being available, but Steam is still DLing that update slow. So I set another game to DL, just to see if it is Firefall that is causing the issue, that game is also downloading slow as molasses.

Anyone else having this issue, or has anyone else encountered this issue before? If so, did you find a solution?

I had already tried changing download locations, and my connection tested just fine at speakeasy and speedtest. I turned off the new beta update, and now it works just fine.

Yes and not bothering with tech support because I'm not sure they exist anymore.

Well, if you are subscribed to the beta program like I was, you may wish to disable it, as that seems to have fixed the issue for me.

have you tested your speed on a site other than Steam? If so, have you tried changing download reigons?

Also, you may want to look over any programs you have recently installed, or any programs that are running that my not be when you normally use Steam.

First though, you really need to test your DL speed on a site other than Steam, speakeasy.net/speedtest is one of my personal favorites, but speedtest.net also works (they just seem to slightly exagerate your actual DL speed)

yeah just tested on speedtest.net and is normal, I use chicago for mine like I have been and I dunno it's going at about half of what i typically get. Oh well good thing it wasn't a 40 gb d/l lol.
