Unstable fps on a brand new gaming pc PLEASE HELP!!
I recently got a new gaming PC and i was excited to play Team Fortress 2 at max setting 1080p with 60+ fps, since I've played TF2 at 30fps low settings for the longest time. But for some reason my frame rate in the game is very unstable. My fps is constantly changing from 30 fps to around 160 fps and i am very confused why my pc is not able to hold over 60 fps in a 7 year old game. here are my pc specs if it helps.

PC brand: IBUYPOWER
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750
CPU:AMD FX-4300 quad-core processor 3.80 Ghz
RAM:8.00 gb
Hard Drive capacity: 2000 gb

Maybe a gtx 750 is not made for max settings.
Try it a bit lower.
Also try vertical sync to avoid too high fps.
i tried vsync but i still drop below 50 and lowering settings doesnt really do much
i mean come on this a 7 year old game and not the newest next gen triple a title of 2015

This 7 year old game happens to still get updates, and maintain very popular communities. Just do as suggested by Muppet among Puppets and lower graphics a little.

Try rolling back your Card drivers. I.e go to the manufacturer site and find the driver version 1 or two steps before your current version. It's not uncommon for newer drivers to break older games.

Als... COnfigure your monitor's refresh rate to 60hz. Vsyync basically tries to match your moniutors rate but if your monitor has an improperly configure refresh rate or itr has difficulty reading it.. then... there could be issues.

didn't read a statement about that, so, windows up2date?

latest nvidia.com driver installed? seriously, never use manufacture drivers, these are outdated in the moment the first card is produced and new drivers can't break older games. and the most thing they modify from the origina drivers is to put their logo in it, makes no reason to use manufacture drivers.

Actually manufacture drivers are usually safer than more recent drivers I've found. There's more testing that goes on with manufacturer drivers. New drivers have a bad habit of worsening performance or introducing glitches sometimes. . Hence why I suggested rolling back the drivers to see if anything changed.
Allways backup the last known working drivers
i hope if tf2 is ported to source 2 then it might be better optimized

It likely wont be... I mean considering they're likely to release Tf3 fo when Source 2 comes out
it would be stupid of valve to release TF3 at all considering how long tf2 has lasted and how big the community is. If Valve ever released TF3, the community would split and valve would rather keep making money off of hats and weapons they add to TF2 than make a brand new title.
