Watching Twitch Streams with Steam Overlay ? Possible ? [Solved] (kind of)
So, I have tried googling it. No good answers that worked.
Is there anyway I can watch Twitch Streams inside my steam overlay web browser.

Pretty annoying having to alt-tab.

I have tried https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
But there is no "Other Browsers" option.

Tried installing WITH the over lay web browser. Doesn't seem possible. I find this a really stupid problem, and I would be surprised if there was no work around for this... but whatever

So yeah

TL;DR. Is there anyway I can watch Twitch Streams with Steam Over Lay Web Browser.

Thanks

Yes it works just fine; exit Steam Client and use a web browser, such as IE.
If Windows8/8.1/10 then use the IE from Desktop, not MetroUI/StartScreen

Download from here:
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions
Select your OS from drop-down menu.
Download all the available Adobe Flash Plugins (when one it downloading, click Back button to get back to the drop down menu page) once they all finished, then ensure any web browsers or Steam are closed and not running. Don't download files using Steam Browser or Steam BPM.

Then install them by right clicking and click Run As Admin.
Do each one at a time until finished.
Now restart you

So, close steam as I am installing the flash plugins ? Alright. Let me give it a shot !

Yes all Web Browsers and Steam Client need to have been fully exited prior to Adobe Flash install.

Alright, lets see if this works this time.

I installed Overwolf as well. Apparently that works. Apparently.
Overwolf has it's own methods of providing "In-game overlay" and it might conflict with apps such as Uplay, Origin, Steam when their overlay are actively enabled. So if u do have issues, try disable overlay for OverWolf.

So yeah, installing the flash players for firefox + chrome didn't seem to do anything. Overwolf. I can watch streams.. except my mouse gets stuck on the middle of my screen. Making my game unplayable (Dark Souls 2). So need to find a fix for that now -.-

steam overlay needs the PPAPI one.

I installed that one.
U can't watch & play at the same time. As the Overlay will be on-top of your game.
If you want to do that effectively, either u need to run your game in Windowed Mode, or run the game full screen on one display whilst running a stream via browser or other content on a second display.

Overwolf sorts that out. But now my mouse is stuck in the center of my screen in-game.. and I can't move my camera -.-. Solve one problem. Another rises. I really don't get why this has to be so difficult.
Why Overwolf? What does it do for u?
It must have an Overlay on/off toggle. Like Steam does.
However if both Steam and Overwolf Overlay are running at same time, it might create issues.
I know some games had issues with both Uplay & Steam having active overlay at same time.

Overwolf allows me to watch Twitch Streams. It works similar to steam overlay. press a few buttons, you bring up the over and web browser.

Except Overwolf actually works. Somewhat.

Meh, f*ck it. I might just have to go full screen windowed mode. And Alt-Tab, it only takes a second. And I guess it is similar to using an Overlay in that fashion.

Pretty poor performance from Steam tbh. Oh well.

Thanks for your help everyone :)

yes its possible
Well I don't see what could be the issue(s).

I have used the Web Browser within both Steam In-Game Overlay and/or within BigPictureMode and never had an issue. Just that u had to ensure those 3rd party Adobe Flash PlugIns (I forgot which one exactly, as I always ensured all 3 are installed and kept up to date) were installed for anything Flash to work within Steam Client, as the same applies for the need of Flash Video to work when you are in Steam Client and wish to view Video Content that is on a Steam Store Product Pages.

If you have Win 8/8.1/10, those are still needed, however it just so happens that the one for IE "ActiveX" does not apply to those because since those OS, Microsoft is responsible for the handling of Flash for IE, and IE Updates handle/dictate that version for IE. Where as with say; XP/Vista/7, IE still relies on the Flash for IE "ActiveX" to be installed for IE to have Flash capabilities.

But again, the one for IE is not what Steam Client uses. It may have changed, but in past years it has always required the one used for Firefox, regardless of you having that Browser actually installed or not, that version of Adobe Flash PlugIn was required for Steam Client App. Some are saying that Steam is now using the one made for Chrome (PPAPI) due to changes Valve has made to what Steam Client uses for it's integrated web browser; so again I'm not 100% sure. All I know is you should have both NPAPI and PPAPI both installed and that should cover u for Steam Client. I'm also un-sure if anything else is required for this to work/funtion properly, as I always installed Adobe AIR and Shockwave as well. And manually keep such plugins up to date when a newer version becomes public.

It may be possible that OverWolf has it's own already as a means for Flash content to function.
