But yes, Half-life is worth it, But again, like I said, if you want to try the FREE version of the remake, you can get it here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/black-mesa/downloads, you can look up videos on how to install, Its a GREAT remake
Just don't get HL Source, get the original, and yes both expansions are great, even though Opposing Force is a little bit better than Blue Shift, and on top of that, you have plenty of mods to play.
Wait till they are on sale so you can get then cheap.
Half-life 2 and its episodes are also great games, episode one being a bit short though.

The DLCs for both games are definitely worth it, too, ESPECIALLY the HL2 DLCs. They add a lot to the story, and are every bit as fun as the core game (and unlike the HL1 DLCs, which put you in the role of other characters and take place parallel to the events of the main game, the HL2 DLCs are a direct continuation of the story, and are therefore much more critical. So if you must pick one to get DLC for first, definitely get HL2: EP1 and HL2: EP2. It is better to see HL2 and the 2 Episodes all together as one full title.)
