Windows 10: installing a game via Steam is extremely slow

Let me clarify: after the start of any game installation it takes A LOT of time for the cache&directory setup. After that the download works fine. For example, Dead Space and Arkham City takes 10 min circa of pre-installation phase before the real download.
What is happened to my Steam client?

Got the same problem here. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

It's no use to try to reinstall Steam or move the game files, it won't work any better. And don't try to remove the appmanifest .acf files, it won't work even more.

I guess it's a security problem, you know, Steam trying to install games on the computer. It will be probably cleared in the future updates of Windows 10 or Steam.

steam settings, try changing download region.

doesnt have to do anything with win10. i download at the max speed my game hdd can handle, which is 50-80 megabytes per second.

Seems there was a general problem with dloading games/updates for a time. try again see if it works now. mine is back to speed.

HOW? HOW do you get 50, let alone 80 megabytes per second? I get like 8 megabytes AT MOST, usually its like 7.

I can get up to 500 MB on my solid state.It does not mean i get that much, it has to do with you network speed.He obviously has a very,very good internet service.

Yea Steam only has a few servers for the entire world to download/update their games. So like anything, if the closest regional server to your physical location has issues, or is rather slow, try another.

Nothing is slow about Windows10 if u do a clean install.
Usually u WILL have issues due to an "uprgade" process.

Microsoft has nothing to do with this problem and neither has windows, I also had this problem 10 minutes ago and sometimes I didnt even reach 1kb per second. To fix this you should start your task manager, then look for 'igfxEM Module' and shut it down. This wil take your updating speed to 2mb-10mb per second. This stupid program can also be shut down if you have the error 'Missing file privelages'. Good luck :P
