it is not a cookie issue. reinstall steam as described a post above #26
No its not a cookie issue
Why don't they address this problem, or at least let the customers contact them about it?
I'm not even getting receipt emails after I make a purchase! I can't verify email, I don't receive the emails (though I used to until May last year), yet I'm still constantly being asked to verify.

I'm especially frustrated that when I look for help on the subject, the help screen sends me back to do the same thing (verify email) that's causing me to go look for help.
Swamp Gas, your story makes me think mails from Steam to you are blocked/bounced by your mail provider. When steam then recieves the bounced mail back, steam asks you to verify that your email address is valid and current.

If that's what is happening, I can only think of three possible reasons:

------
1. You have entered an incorrect email-adress in Steam. This you can check and correct if that's the case.

2. Steam emails are put in the spam folder in your mail client. If you are using Outlook, there's a "feature" called "Clutter", that puts mails you receive often, but seldom read, in a special folder called "clutter". (If your Outlook uses a language other than english, you need to figure out what it's called).

3. Your email-provider has blacklisted Steam, because they think they are sending spam.
If this is is the problem, Steam has to negotiate with your email-provider. They can only do that if they know about the problem, so somehow you need to get through on steam support.
------

Ok i think i got it.

I got the notification everyday for a few months. So long i was growing accustom to it.

A week ago i recieved a steamguard notivication on my phone, that someone was trying to acces my account. As soon as i got home I changed my password.

Never got the request to verify my email again.

So dont just verify your account, change your password !

TLDR : CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD!

Pretty sure there is a cookie that, when deleted, causes this. Stop clearing your cookies.
what a preposterous, presumptuous statement! FIX your billion dollar program to settle this without a damn cookie
I'm also having this issue. I've already verified my account twice in the past 2 weeks and it's asking me to verify my email again.

This problem has been going on for years on 2 different computers of mine. No matter how many times I validate, the message just keeps popping back every time I login.

At this point, I consider it a feature.

"Ah, nice, I need to validate my e-mail even though I just did it 5 minutes ago! Sweet!"
Try changing your password. Worked for me
i tried changinh my password, about a week later it asked me to verify again.

This is preposterous.
Xieso - Your statement is completely incorrect. If I have assigned an email address to my Steam user account, there is not a single reason in a million years that I need to verify my email or risk account security. Actually, quite to the contrary, and it is irritating and pointless.

IF IT IS NOT MY ADDRESS ANYMORE, there's not much I'm going to be able to do about it!!!! Since I cannot access the email that Steam would be asking me to verify it with, and if Steam was to allow me to change the email without some bread crumb of confirming I am who I say I am, then they actually introduce LESS security.

Completely pointless. Completely pointless. Its the main reason I I rarely buy on Steam. Stupid policy. REALLY stupid.

If your email account is compromised, there's no security by asking you to confirm it is there? And if people have your email account hacked, then whats the first thing Steam is going to do when you (the hacker) intentionally click "FORGOT PASSWORD"? Send YOU an EMAIL to the EMAIL you have of file.

Completely STUPID.,

pretty much bang on.

I have got to the point of just ignoring it, it keeps reprompting me, I keep clicking the X, I dont know what steam think they gaining by making people repeatedly reverify email addresses.

First off, if Steam keeps asking you to verify your email address it sounds like after you click yes, you aren't going to that email, opeing up the message from Steam, and clicking the link that will confirm that it is indeed your email. The reason you have to do this is that there are too many Steam users that would just click 'yes', even when they needed to change it, but couldn't be bothered to do it right then. Those people would then forget to update it and if they ever forgot their password, they couldn't use the automated password recovery because they no longer had access to the email for their account. So they would have to waste both Valve's and their own time getting it fixed. This isn't about getting hacked, it's about people not being able to log in because they forgot their password.

Second, Valve is not the only company that asks it's users to verify their contact information from time to time. My bank does it, credit card companies, even PayPal. The main difference is that people are a lot more likely to update that information right away with their financial institutions. Too many Steam users have proven that if you don't force them to take care of stuff like this, they will ignore it which could lead to bigger problems down the line. This is also why Valve won't let people opt-out of these reminders, because the people most likely to turn them off are the ones most likely to be filing support tickets after they forget their password because they didn't update their email address.

I've tried to google it but all I can find is that I need to add 'steamsupport' or something like that as an contact, which is not an option on gmail.

Try adding a filter to send anything from 'steampowered.com' to whatever folder you put emails from Steam in.

Paypal has never ever asked me to reverify my already verified details. Its not normal to be constantly changing email addresses.
Also my bank never does this either.

The only other company I use that does this, is ebay, but they do it differently to steam, they just send an email every month asking me to make sure my info is up to date, its also stupid but at least they dont stick a big banner on their site saying we want you to reverify now!!!.

Steam need to stop this nonsense, and if they paranoid about people somehow forgetting the email address they use, then add 2fa that does "NOT" use SMS, use something like google authenticator instead.
