Add games from ubisoft

Now that ubisoft returned to steam,
Can I add a game bought on ubisoft's platform to steam?

Unless Ubisoft grants you a free copy of the game to activate on Steam, no.
The chances of that happening are pretty much zero.

You can add it as a "non Steam game" but you will not have access to Steam achievements for ecample.

The Steam version and the Ubisoft Connect version are seen as different games with regard to which platform you decided to get it on.

But I bought those games on ubisoft because they were not available on steam.
Now that those same games are available, I would like to activate those same games on steam.
I already have a link between my ubisoft and steam account, from before they left.

No, it does not.
Why should Steam grant you a free copy of a game you bought on the platform of a direct competitor?

That's like asking for a free Coke from McDonalds because you bought a Whopper from Burger King.

You bought your games on Ubisoft's platform and that's where your games are.

Either ask, without any chance of success, Ubisoft to give you another copy for free, or buy it again from Steam.

You do not get a Steam copy because you got those games on Ubisoft Connect.

You activated the licence for each game upon clicking confirm at the cart on Ubisoft Connect and those licences are linked directly to your Ubisoft Connect account as a licence is one time use only.

Ubisoft doesn't want you to do that, sadly.

the only one that could give you anything for free, which is what you ask for, is Ubisoft.

It's one way only for activation.

If bought on Steam, it requires you to use your Ubisoft account to link the game from your Steam account. Once done it tied to both accounts.

If bought on Ubisoft, you can't link it to anywhere else as you bought it on Ubisoft. The linking process is only done from another store to link to Ubisoft that it, hence one way, not both ways, it up to the game dev/publisher to make it both ways if they wanted, and chance that happening with Ubisoft is very unlikely to ever happen.

I can add the link to start it from Ubisoft. Kinda like adding the game but I just do it for steam link. It places the shortcut in your steam library, so it's sorta like adding the game to it but it's still running through Ubi, so long as it's downloaded to the PC. Just browse when adding and go into Ubisoft and add the executable file.

No, but you can buy a fresh copy on steam...

I've done this, it works. Can even add the non-steam game to your favorites.
