i bought this morning sleeping dogs definitive edition pc at gamestop,i put the disc 1 on,and i clicked on setup and it opens steam setup,ok i installed,and installed an updated with 150mb even i don't have a wifi illimited,now i open it again and he ask me a cd key,that is back of the cover of the game,the code doesn't work,soo i tried on {LINK REMOVED}square-enix.com and the code is worked in that site,now the problem is where im gonna get that code soo i can download this game,im freaking angry for this stupid thing,i just payed 20 € for a game that doesn't even work without a code.

Sleeping Dogs requires Steam, I'm not sure how you could redeem the code on Square-Enix. Confirm there is not a code on the disc, or somewhere else on the manual. Also make sure you are typing the code correctly.

Please try to calm down. I understand your frustration, but getting angry will only make matters worse. There is no phone support on Steam. You will need to register a support account and open a ticket.

If the key you were provided does not work, you will have to take it up with the retailer or game maker. All steam does is check the key you give them to the database of keys square provides. You can try contacting steam but it's probably a waste of time as they will likely tell you just what I said.

Also, almost all physical PC games released in the past 5+ years require a drm like Steam that you register your game's key to. Most physical PC games are also shipped with incomplete builds so they can meet a deadline to produce and distribute the game. They must then be activated and updated online.

Unfortunately CharlestONE is likely correct, and they will simply tell you to go back to GameStop. I don't think the employee knew what they were talking about, Steam doesn't provide keys simply because you have a CD of the game. I would first go back to GameStop and try to resolve the issue there.

However if you still wish to contact Steam, CharlestONE provided a guide for doing so above.

thanks guys ,only 30 mins and i go to gamestop,there is no way that i payed something for nothing,no way -_-,i don't care if i take a even 1 year,that game its gonna work,and im not gonna pay 1 cents more just for a freaking key of ♥♥♥♥

Just to make sure its all good, how did you put in the key? did you do it with or with out the -
Also were did you put the key in? was it a Grey/blue window, that seem to be part of Steam or something that seem more like part of the game it self?

Support take a long time to reply, so its best to try to solve it, while you wait (and i mean even can take a few weeks sadly, as of the mess users created)
also i like to note that a few users are reporting there is a problem with keys on Steam right now, my self i did not seem to get any problem, but it may exsist

can you maybe provide a screenshot of the window that ask you to put the key in? (hide your username and the key it self if it show, we better not know what it is )
Also i am downloading that game now, in case its something you need to get from the game it self or soemthing

cant see images, can it be blocked? or not public?

Also did you look on the Square-Enix site, to see if maybe they give you a second key?

Really odd.. did you put the "-" in the key?
Also i recommend you connect Square-Enix as well, just in case

Just add a reply to your open ticket, and put the CD-key there.

well as you just stared the line you can maybe close these ticket, and reopen it, and fix that..
