Have to login everytime I start steam
I have my account details saved, but I have to login each time I start steam (on two machines). This is a newer problem, maybe a couple of months.

Its really annoying because steam can't be bothered to follow window rules that every-other-application-ever obeys (login window appears on unfocused monitor regularly).

So shouldn't you be able to fix that be checking "Remember me " at the login page?

I haven't had that checked either.

Its happening on 2 pc's (both linux it probably worth saying). One is dual boot with windows, there steam does not ask me for my login - thats probably also worth saying... maybe steam does not like same mac address/ different installations?

Did you find a fix for this?

I have this happening to me now most of the time. My guess is, that it is because of the Mobile Authenticator.
Which is retarded, if true.

Same thing happening here.
I have to enter password and mobile code every single time I start the app.

Yup, major neck pain.
Tried all the folk remedies, such as deleting ClientRegistry.blob,
reinstalling the client, deleting everything in ../program files/Steam
but the .exe.... no joy.
Unfortunately Valve have achieved some fine things since their
inception but good customer support ain't one of them.

Yup.
Valve seems to do try anything lately to try and "protect" their customers, by restricting everyone even more.
Too bad they don't care for any comfort for their users anymore.

Delete clientregistry.blob from your steam files , dont know where it is tho , just seach for it with CTRL+F ----- this worked for me , hope it helps , never had this problem for 5 years and it suddenly started happening after the last steam update for me.

There are a couple of possible causes for that, all boil down to Steam's bookkeeping being interferred with. In far most cases, that's crapware on your PC that does that, CCleaner being the most prominent.
Anothe cause may be you starting Steam from a shortcut with parameters. Make sure you don't do so.

My problem was the use of a VPN, that autostarts at Windows start.

As the connection takes a bit to be complete, i just delayed the autostart of Steam itself by 30 secs.

No more needing to login in every Windows start.

this is a life saver. been really fkn irritating to have to login everytime i restart my computer

Deleting two "blob" files inside Steam folders helped. They were not called "clientregistry.blob" anymore, so you got to search just for "blob" word.
