How long to get unlimited account
Hi everyone.

I was wondering how lont it take for an account to get unlimited. I added 5€ on my steam wallet 2 days ago, thinking it would be really fast, but still nothing today.

Does someone have any idea if its supposed to be this long, or i need to do something else ?

Thanks.

You need to SPEND that $5 on the Steam store - note that does NOT include items from in0-game stores such as on Team Fortress 2, etc.

It will take 30 days for your account to get it's limit removed. After that, you have to keep spending money in order for your account to stay unlimited. After a year your account will be limited again if you didn't buy something within a year after your last purchase.

I do not know if you have to keep spending $5 everytime in order for your account to stay unlimited.

Not quite true.

Once that $5 has been spent ONCE, the friends list, levels and all the other gumf is accessible and PERMANENT. The trading restrictions are what you're referring to - they go away if you haven't had purchase activity on the account.

But isnt adding equivalent to 5$ on your steam wallet enough. The FAQ about it said its one of the way to remove the limit.

I won't swear to it, as I'm not completely sure (plus it may have changed in the few months I've been away too).

However, the bit I said about what's enabled and stays enabled is accurate.

Also, if you've got $5 there, I'm sure you can find some games on the current sale that suit the bill? But if you want to the inventory trading stuff, then as the above poster said, you'll still have a further 30 days to wait once you've spent it.

Check the Steam Community 101 guide on my profile for a cool flowchart / diagram we put together, it might help visualize the account requirements.

I hadn't heard of this. Another thing to file away for future reference.

Cool beans!

Adding the equivalent of $5 USD is enough to turn an account unlimited. That is considered spending money on Steam, as you are spending money to increase your wallet funds.

How can I gain access to all Steam features?

You will need to spend at least $5.00 USD within the Steam store.
Some examples of purchases that grant access to these features are:
Adding the equivalent of $5 USD or more to your Steam Wallet
Purchasing game(s) that are equal to $5 USD or more from the Steam store
Adding a Steam Wallet card to your Steam account
Purchasing a Steam gift from the Steam store
(Receiving a Steam gift from a friend doesn't count)
Each Steam purchase total will be tracked in USD. If your Steam store's currency isn't in USD, it will be tracked and converted to USD automatically using daily exchange rates.

Just to be completely clear, if you go here:
https://store.steampowered.com/account/

Do the funds appear under "Wallet Balance", "Pending Funds", or not at all?
