Call of Duty Black Ops III Download is Extremely Slow
I bought and started downloading Call of Duty: Black Ops III on December 2nd, if I remember correctly and the download has still not finished. It is moving into my system at excessively slow rates - currently 59kb/s and peeking at a mere 88.7kb/s. Why is this download so slow?

It has been seven days since the download started and I still have a projected arrival time two days away from now (downloading from 36.9/47.0GB). The day I bought the game I also started downloads for Star Wars Battlefront and Fallout 4, both of which finished downloading entirely within two hours. I have since installed them and have played them without a hitch.

It has been nearly half a moth since Black Ops Three released and I still cannot play the game because the download rate is so slow. Initially I was just going to let the download continue and hope the speed would kick up, but it never has and I doubt it ever will at this point. After waiting for days I figured I should just ask Steam for some assistance, however, all of the pages regarding the game redirect to Activision Support where I was connected to a support member who was just as lost as I was. He suggested I contact Steam, then I told him about the issues I was having getting in contact with Steam itself. They have no phone number or email that I know of.

After spending about half an hour trying to find contact info on Steam the Activision support agent and I figured there was no way to directly contact them; which is ridiculous considering Steam and its grandness.

Regardless, I eventually found this page and am hoping somebody could clear up the issues I am having with my download speed. I have never had an issue like this and the representative at Activision told me he had never had anybody with an issue like mine either. I have already tried most if not all of the Steam Support Troubleshooting page instructions and insured that my ISP or router ports are not blocking anything essential.

Please help. I am tired of this download. I never realized this $60 game would just lead me to a wait this long. If I did I would have just gotten myself half a Disneyland ticket and done the same thing there.

steam settings -> downloads -> change server region to something else. if it is peak time in your area change it to something on the other side of the planet.

if you acquired the 2 other mentioned games somewhere else, please keep in mind that internet service providers might see Steam as a "threat" for their infrastructure and slow down the traffic that Steam produces.

I was going to try that, but I'd hope that the San Diego area has not been in "peak time" for the past ten days. And do you know if Cox views Steam as a supposed "threat?"

Thanks for the help regardless

I am having the same issue as you, and wondering if you have ever came across a fix (considering it has been about 9 years since you have had this problem)? My internet usually has a download speed of 10mbps, but the download for bo3 is saying 24kbps which is really frustrating. I did an internet speed test and it was saying 10mbps, so I just cannot understand why it isn't working as it should. At the start of the download it was normal up until about 88 percent which is when it just stopped working. I would really like to know why/what you might've done to fix the @bojangles

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
