xbox one controller won't connect to PC
I tried using a wire to connect my xbox one controller to my PC but it is not reading it. I loaded up a game and nothing happens.I also went into device manager and I do not see anything showing "xbox one controller" or anything of the sort.I currently have windows 10 home 64x, not an upgraded version. New PC. I don't know what other information you might need so feel free to ask and I will do as best I can.

Make sure you've downloaded the latest drivers from Microsoft

Windows 10 is supposed to be "plug and play" now with the wired xbox one controller. Nothing happens when I connect my controller to the USB port (tried all of them)

If the controller doesn't respond, try a different micro-USB cable.

I've tried 3 different cables. Same result.

I've got the same problem.. Have you found a solution yet?

Mine works fine.

I think you need to download the "Xbox Accessories" App from the Windows Store possibly? It's only used for updating the controller and configuring the Elite version, but I did this first and it might help?

I did fix the problem. It has to be a data sync cable.

Good to know, better make sure I keep thy cable away from the kids and their Android devices that use it to charge!

I Use the one I got with the controller though, shouldn't that be a data sync cable?

Data sync cables usually have the letter "b" on them. Not all micro usbs work. No you don't need to have Windows 10, although I have it. Google "data sync cables" if none of the cables you have work. I also checked the reviews to make sure someone confirmed it worked on PC to controller.

My cousin is able to use any micro USB cable while I am not. May have something to do with the ports or mobo but if you are having this issue, look into data sync cables.

What have you tried? Not long after this, windows 10 released an official driver which means it should be plug and play now. Although, for my wireless controller I do still have to use a data sync cable.

Then one of the two things is broken. The controller or the computer.
