144hz Monitor?
So, these are my system specs:

i7 4770 @3.9ghz
EVGA GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0
12GB RAM
Corsair 600W PSU

I have a 60hz hp monitor right now, which i really like, but I get really bad screen tearing on certain games. Assassins Creed Black flag, AC Unity, PlanetSide 2 for example. I'm wondering if its worth me spending about $350 for an AOC 144hz moniter without G Sync. Will buying this monitor affect my fps in any way? Will it solve most of my screen tearing problems? Is there a point in buying a new gaming monitor that doesn't use G Sync? Please give me some feedback:).

enable vsync if you have problems with tearing.
ive done that, it doesn't help with AC4, and I'd prefer not to limit my fps.
Get it and you won't see screen tearing again. It doesn't matter what fps you get. You don't really need g-sync if you have 144hz.

Doesn't matter if you limit or unlimit. Your monitor is only goiung to show you 60 frames. Your tearing is being caused by the simple fact that your card's refresh rate and monitors are out of sync.

it starts drawing halfves of two different frames because your monitor is rciving the data from frame 6 before it's finished drawing frame 3.

Enable vsync and if double buffering/ setting exists. Enable it.

Also AC4 itself was rather poorly optimized for PC. a 144hz monitor won't really help you much since if the game still renders faster than your screen. you're going to get tearing. if your screen is refreshing significantly faster than your card... you could get a little response or input lag.
ok, from what ive read even if youre only getting 70fps, there will still be tearing. But the 144hz monitor refreshes so fast it makes it very hard to detect because its on the screen for sush a short time. is this right? PS, this is the monitor I'll probably get.

70fps on a 60fps monitor will not produce tearing if you enable vsync. 70fps on a 144hz monitor will xcreate some lagging since each frame will be drawn twice.
but even if i buy a 144hz monitor i can select 60hz in the Nvidia control panel.
out of these three monitors, which would you recommend?
AOC G2460PQU 144hz, 1ms Ultimate Performance 24-Inch Professional Gaming Monitor
BenQ 144Hz, 1ms High Performance 24-inch LED Gaming Monitor
ASUS VG248QE 24-inch LED-lit Monitor 144Hz refresh rate 1ms
Asus and BenQ are good. I have the Asus VG248QE and it's great.
monoprice makes a great 144hz monitor in 1440p and 1080p at a really competitve price
so, you dont find the color to be washed out or anything? PS, what card do you have? do you see any lag if the monitor displays the same frame twice?
This is a pretty good one for a TN.

{HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}

If you want the best then get an IPS 144hz monitor.
